Elvira Poiters Review of Shakespeare's Globe

I was insanely looking forward to this but it was not worth the money. To be clear: I only took the tour so I can't say anything about a play. The tour cost me 20 , which is quite a lot for a 45min tour. However, I would have gladly payed it if I had actually seen something. It's not worthy of the name "tour" because you don't move around the place. We were immediately taken outside to the courtyard were plays are held. And there we stayed for the duration of the "tour". We didn't get see anything else. No backstage, no gallery, no costumes, nothing! And although the courtyard was lovely, it's not enough to call this a tour nor to justify the price. I've heard that they just recently decided to close everything (gallery and so on) for the public! First of all: why in 7 hells would you take that opportunity away from people?! And second, then they should lower their prices drastically! On the plus side, our guide was clearly a very passionate Shakespeare fan, who really made me want to come back to watch a play. Entertaining guy and great storyteller.
