I don't normally write reviews but feel compelled to share this poor experience in the hopes of saving others money.
My partner purchased the New Years overnight cat skiing trip as my Christmas gift this year. Communication from the company was non-existent leading up to the trip. We had to reach out to find out start times, to confirm whether the trip was happening, and to ask when we would find out if it would be cancelled since we could see there were low sign-ups.
Every other guiding service we have used has proactively contacted us with details and had far better communication. We found out the trip was cancelled by the company because there were not enough people signed up one week before it was scheduled to start. This was through no fault of our own. We were given one date option for this year to reschedule to because everything else was booked, but that date did not work for us. We were then told we could book next year, but dates were not available yet. This was after persistent follow up on our part to try and get details because at this point my Christmas gift was canceled and my partner had over $3,000 tied up so no money to plan something else. With no communication we suddenly received a refund on the trip, less 10%.
Cascade Powder Cats cancelled our trip, in no way did we try to cancel it and now we have lost over $500 between the foreign exchange and them holding back 10%. They have a number of sold out trips this year - what would stop them from cancelling all of those and profiting 10% from each customer? I have never heard of a company cancelling a trip and then holding back cash. It goes hand in hand with the poor communication and lack of care.
Spend your money with guides and companies who actually care about customer service.
