Such a warm and welcoming place to be as both a camper and counselor. The directors are kind parental figures who take an interest in the individual, and who are also constantly seeking better ways to improve the program through camper and counselor feedback, as well as conventions and visiting other camps. While Chatuga evolved through the 16 years I attended, it remained, at its critical core, the same chatuga I knew and loved at age 6. That to me, is very special. I was pushed to be independent while being supported in a group. The range of activity choices and genres provided something every year for me as I grew older and my interests changed. I would not be the same person today if not for Chatuga, and for that I am forever grateful.
