I recently stayed at Novotel Brisbane and felt that it should be downgraded to Mercure. I feel the same for Sofitel Brisbane as its teetering on the edge of Novotel quality. (Compared to Sofitels in other cities around the world). I didn't like that the restaurant at the hotel is a buffet option. I felt like I was staying at a cheap Las Vegas hotel. After a day of airports and office meetings, I'm looking for a nice quiet a la carte dining experience. Not a busy, bustling buffet that requires me to line up for my three courses. Plus, I'm not much of a big eater at dinner. So $69 ($99 on weekends) is a bit too much. The room is ok, Nespresso machine and a large comfortable bed. Fittings and fixtures is showing the age of the hotel. I still cannot believe I have to climb into a bathtub for me to shower at a Sofitel. At first I thought I was in a Best western in regional Australia.

A Sofitel should have a separate shower.

I did the love the bar, service was great from both bar staff and front desk. $47 parking is way too much too. But that is starting to become the norm in most capital city hotels. At the right price this hotel is definitely worth staying in. Overall a good experience.
