St Ives Harbour Bay Hotel

St Ives Harbour Bay Hotel

Hotel visited 2nd October 20

Mashed potato on the carpet.

Months of dirt and a cream cup down behind the fridge.

Smell of damp on entering the room. The bedding felt cold and damp.

The room was freezing 11 c. We had to turn on the radiator. Only one in a large room with high ceilings.

Windows letting draft through.

Second room could not turn on the heater. Maintenance was called and the heater had fused.

Towel rail in the bathroom was on a timer of 2 hours. We again had to turn it on to get some heat into an extremely cold bathroom. In the morning it was freezing again.

No light over the bathroom sink.
Cold tap in basin loose.
Hot water dangerously to hot.
No extractor fan working in the bathroom.
Water pressure extremely poor. Difficult to use the rain shower head to a comfortable temperature.

The tea bags were not replenished or the toilet roll. The rooms were not hoovered. Cleanliness appears to be a problem and very worrying especially due to COVID-19. We found the room dirty on our arrival and the cleaning staff do not know there job.

Bed throw was not ironed. Very creased and again felt damp.

Generally very drab furnishings. For a lady to dry her hair or apply makeup a mirror over a dressing table with nothing but a very dim light from the ceiling fitting. Very poorly planned room altogether. Need female ideas regarding the placement of lighting, power points, decor etc.

Breakfast on both days started well. On both days we requested more toast to eat with our cooked breakfast. We had finished our breakfast on the first day before the toast arrived. On the second day we again requested more toast and another pot of tea. Before it arrived we gave up waiting and left the restaurant.

The very best thing about the room quite simply was the view of the ocean out of the window.

The room number was 214

Please take the above as constructive criticism. Our stay was very far from the comforts you expect from a 4 star hotel.
