Het Oude Politiebureau is a wonderful restaurant with a great laid-back terrace. My wife & I popped in one evening for a nice dinner. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had not reserved a table, and the place was packed. However, we were told if we sat & had a drink that a table should come free shortly.
While I was very impressed with the terrace, as mentioned, the staff seemed to take our order and then forget it, or deliver French Fries without actually bringing the meal itself. Further to that, the menu that we were given did not resemble the menu that was on their website. I had looked online in the afternoon and had already decided what I was going to select, but that was not possible. The salad that I did choose, while being OK, was nothing special at all... However, my wife order a steak and said that it was absolutely delicious...
So, while I loved the building and the outdoor tables, Het Oude Politiebureau failed a little bit with regards order taking, food (not all) and serving...
This is not enough for me to not recommend it to others, but it is enough to not really make me want to go back... (Which is disappointing - I had high expectations for this restaurant.)
