From the moment you pass through the gates you will see the most magnificent tree lined drive. The house was built 1741 and had 68 rooms. In 1961 the Slazenger family purchased the house from Lord Powerscourt. Unfortunately in 1974 a fire broke out up stairs destroying the roof, bedrooms and reception rooms. In 1966 the house was re roofed and was opened to the public by President Mary Robinson in 1967. There is a wonderful Avoca restaurant.
