Alexander Belikoff Review of Lake Powell Resort

I really tried to love the place. The location is amazing - absolutely gorgeous view of Lake Powell (sunrise is amazing, so plan accordingly) and so could be this resort. Yet there are too many things that are wrong to consider it an isolated issue.
Starting with the state of the rooms - a renovation is way overdue. I am not the one who would insist on only top-notch brand new sparkling conditions of lodging - I am happy when the room is comfortable and well kept. Which our room wasn't. Everything is old and feels somewhat neglected and it shows in so many details: one of the vanity mirror light bulbs being long dead, broken bathroom doorknob, bronze finish of the appliances half-gone - I could go on and on...
Of the amenities, two most notably lacking are elevators and Wi-Fi. If you are on the 2nd floor, prepare to lug your suitcases up the stairs. As for Wi-Fi, they've got it but it is beyond bad - it is totally unusable. The fact that mobile reception was practically nonexistent for my provider in the area didn't help either, leaving us without any connection to the outside). To add insult to injury, their internal systems are using the same Wi-Fi, so it was kind of funny to see the restaurant hostess repeatedly trying to connect her iPad to Wi-Fi in order to pull up the seat map and repeatedly failing to do so.
Of the restaurants, there are two, but they operate off the same menu. The lounge is availability-based and is taking no reservations, whereas the Rainbow Room is reservation-based. It was impossible to reserve a spot on the same day but we were able to make a reservation one day in advance. The funny thing is that the restaurant was mostly empty over the time we were there, with only some tables taken. At the same time, it took a lo-o-o-ong time to get our food (from seating to entree it took 1 hr 50 min, despite the fact we didn't waste time making our selection).
To put the cherry on a cake we were woken up next morning by the "room service" at 7:55am (it was our last day, so maybe it was a "gentle" nudge to get us to check out faster).
To summarize, as much as I liked Lake Powell, I am far from pleased with my experience at the resort. I don't foresee visiting Page again in the near future but I have to, I would definitely look at alternatives. (I also hope, the Resort Management is reading this and will use it as a recipe to improve things).
