In 2010 National Geographic included this in their top 10 list of gardens to see in the World. I can see why. The vistas around the fountains and formal gardens are breathtaking. I particularly loved the Japanese garden and the walled gardens. Great views of the nearby Sugarloaf mountains form a backdrop to the gardens.
I was a bit disappointed in the house. A good restaurant but the remainder of the house was given over to franchised retail outlets. If you like that shopping though there was a vast range; from specialty food, to art, household / furniture, clothing and jewelry. There is a dolls house exhibition, but that is extra to the genera admission cost.
The new Cool Planet exhibition on climate change looked really great but we didn't have the time, leave 2 hours for that exhibition alone.
