25 years ago I was here and it was amazing. Not amazing anymore. Only 1 of the restaurants was open, we were told due to low occupancy . Was here in off season last time and everything was open. Hotel is falling apart, literally. Could not open windows in room(1482), I tried and it almost fell out on me, AC froze up and repairman didn t fix it. Spa indoor pool was closed, warm mineral baths in spa no longer offered due to inability to keep water in the tubs hot (or so I was told). I asked for a mineral mud treatment instead, told me they no longer had that, even though it was the second item in the spa brochure. Why go to a hot spring if you can t get a hot spring treatment?
Omni has cheaped out the place, no morning coffee in the great hall anymore, afternoon tea is an assembly line, no complimentary water in the rooms, you cant even hike the gorge trail anymore, unless you pay $35 for a guided tour.
We tried to order room service and was told it would take 50 minutes! What about that low occupancy ? This hotel will fail unless they get rid of the GM and bring someone on board who understands the concept of a high level of service is required for a resort. This place has so much potential, but Omni needs to cough up money for more than just the proposed renovation next year. They need to give guests the experience that people like me once had, when the resort was under better management
