Chris C Review of MT.Me
The food:
The food:
Absolutely delicious. You'll be surprised by some flavours that are pretty rare to find. No idea what they add in there. The portioning is only a tad bit smaller than I would've wanted and is a little pricey. But the quality makes up for the size. The view and phenomenal service/friendly staff make up for the price. Coffee is average; the making is great but the bean is quite poor. The restaurant is simple decorated but very elegant and very pleasant.
The wine:
I haven't had wine this good in a long time. They are a small wine producer with some niche traits and many experimental flavours. You can only really buy their alcohol here. They have around 20-25 bottles from the entire spectrum of wine types. A bottle averages at $35 for one or $28 if you buy more than one. They also toss in discounts up to 30%. Definitely good value.
The tour:
$20 if you rock up just for it or $5 if you have a meal and then go to this. So worth it. The tour leader, in my case Jeremy, was incredibly knowledgable about the vineyards, very friendly and cracked a few good jokes to keep it light. You'll also get to taste more wines and even beers straight from the vats, and possibly an experiment if they've got one going.
The view:
Gorgeous. Sweeping grass fields 450m above sea level. You're in a valley area between the vineyards. You'll spot some ducks, odd birds and kookaburras too. Rural area near Dayboro on the stunning drive up Mt Mee
Overall:
You will not be disappointed. This is the best winery I've been to so far. There are accomodation options here too.
