Another covid fail...ill begin the review by saying i patronized Saltys last year and the food and service was quite good. This year however is a different story. I tried to go last weekend and it was a total fail. Of course there was a line up, so i put my name in for my gf and i to get a table. The hostess scrolled through her little ipad and looked around then told us it would be about 1 hour wait...i said thats fine, so she took my number and said they will text when our table is available. So, with an hour to burn my gf and i decided to go grab a drink at a restaurant about 10 minutes away (assuming that would be close enough that we could have a beer and hang out for about 30 mins before making our way back to Saltys). We spent about 15 minutes total between getting to the restaurant and ordering our drinks. We received our drinks and about 5 minutes later i received a text to notify us our table was ready. Total time between Saltys taking my number, telling me it would be a 1 hr wait and then receiving the text to say our table was ready was exactly 27 minutes. So i phoned to see if we could rush to head back and possibly get another table when we arrived. They said yes. So we slammed our drinks paid the bill and went back to Saltys. There was about 10 people lined up outside the door so i walked straight past them all to find out if we had a table...the hostess very rudely told me to get in line and one of the staff would come to greet us, so i briefly tried to explain the situation and the hostess cut me off mid sentence to aggressively tell me to get in the line up and she will not be helping me until the other girl had spoken with us...i was pretty irritated by this point and just as i was ready to ask for a manager the other girl had come to address me. So i told her the situation with the wait time issue and she told me that it is just a rough estimate time they give customers waiting for a table....i told her to take me off the wait list and my gf and i went elsewhere. So my issues with this interaction :
- a difference of over 30 minutes in your wait time estimation is unacceptable.
- the hostess' personability was poor/non existent and led to a very frustrating interaction.

I get this business can comfortably rely on tourism to stay afloat...but when the tourists go home im assuming the local customers keep you afloat. If you hope to keep them, i thin you need to address these issue ive outlined.
