How is Yellow Cab even in business anymore?

How is Yellow Cab even in business anymore?

We took a cab late the other night / early morning to-and-from locations which were maybe 5 miles apart. I'm guessing the original driver didn't think the trip was long or that it paid enough, because when we phoned for a trip back, we were told they'd send us a cab and then upon checking TWENTY/THIRTY minutes later, there was no record of the request.

At that point we requested another cab ...

THEN ... TWENTY MINUTES AFTER THAT, to add insult to injury, the same exact thing happened AGAIN, in that there was apparently no booking. (When we called back in, the automated system asked if we wanted to book a cab instead of saying that a cab was on the way or that they were still trying to find one). While holding to speak to a live person again, I received a call from them on the other line, and a lady said she was sending "another cab".

I called back after only five or so minutes just to be sure they had the booking this time, and sure enough ... NO BOOKING.

I spoke to a guy and he assured me a cab was "in the area" and that he'd "send it". I asked how long it would be and he said they "didn't like to give out times" BUT that "if it didn't arrive in 10-15 minutes, to call back". SERIOUSLY???

I hung up and called back in to try and reach the lady I spoke to who had called me, but I guess they decided not to answer my number (I'm being serious, as how busy could they be at 4 in the morning?), and I was on hold for ten minutes the first time and 12 minutes the second time. Finally, we phoned a family member and he came. Note that at NO time did Yellow Cab ever call back or attempt to get us a cab.

------------------------------

Apparently, not having learned our lesson, we phoned Yellow Cab again last night and requested a cab. Fifteen minutes later, I called again, and received the message that they were still looking for a cab for us (at least they had the booking). Another ten minutes later, and the same thing ... still looking. At that point, I looked up other transportation options and came across "Lyft". It took me approximately 5-6 minutes to get an estimate, enter my credit card information, confirm a ride, and in less than FIFTEEN minutes we were in a great vehicle with a great driver from Lyft. These time frames are NOT an exaggeration.

Again, Yellow Cab is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. It is no wonder it seems that they no longer have the resources to compete. One has to wonder though, if the bad service is driving the collapse of the company or if it is the other way around.
