The food was superb. The service was great. It was the ambience that tainted what would otherwise have been a stellar experience. Why do restaurateurs believe that being surrounded by large screen televisions at every turn is something people want? The din of conversation was already loud during our dinner and there was no shortage of people checking their handheld devices. Food this good deserves an atmosphere conducive to good digestion. I don't want to see COPS or other reality shows of that ilk. I look across the table at faces smiling back at me and then out of the corner of my eye I glimpse some low-life being pummeled by police. There's something not right with that aesthetic. I hope someone reads this and takes it to heart. Not all of us are screen addicts.
