The permanent collection here is fantastic. When i visited, there were two exhibits, one horrid (karen apel) and one fantastic (William Merrit Chase). Check before you come.

Though far from an unreasonable amount, there is an entrance fee, something atypical amongst Washington's myriad museums.

This museum is for art lovers only, and should be skipped be the tourist with only so many sites and museums that can be visited. If you are a DC frequenter or lover of art, Phillips should be a priority. For everyone else the Capitol, Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art, and museums on the mall and monuments will be time better spent.
