The ITC sonar is under renovation and thus the entrance is from the ITC Royal Bengal itself. This comes with its challenge as the reception manages check-in for both the hotel. There are 3 counters and people keep jumping queues and create chaos with no intervention of the staff. I wish that a single queue is formed in future, similar to the check in counters at airports & people move to the counter which gets vacant. My first impression with the hotel was disappointing as it took me almost 30 mins to finish the formalities. Unfortunately the staff also did not show proactiveness to fast track. Also a simple link can be sent to customer to upload documents which would have reduced the TAT considerably. Hope someone is listening.
Post check in we were escorted to our side of the hotel which is a long walk. So please be prepared for it. In that journey there are couple of points which impressed me with regards to changes taken for better. The hotel has installed foot pedal to press the keys of the elevator. Also inside the elevator they have installed sensor based touch less buttons. You just have to move your finger close to the button and the floor where you intend to go gets pressed. Awesome isn t it ?
The room was excellent and the size of the room and bathroom was definitely to my liking. The softness of the bed and pillow was excellent and I had a wonderful sleep on both the nights I stayed. The study table and the chair was perfect to work on. The best part is that the hotel have taken a very brave measure to reduce single use plastics. There were 8 500 ml glass bottles in the room. This has 2 advantages. Water can be just refilled without adding plastic waste and you can serve basic quantity of water which a human being deserves. The hotel deserves a huge round of applause for this initiative. Maybe you can also work on the toiletries and do away with plastic holders there as well.
I was looking forward to the breakfast but I have to accept that it was not something I would like to remember. My mistake. on both days I stayed, I visited it on peak time around 10 am. There were too many people to my liking and getting food was chaos as the spread was huge but the placement across counters are not done properly. I understand it s done to make a differentiation across cuisines but with sea of people I just left having an omelette and fruits on both days. I would recommend my readers to try visiting at 7 am . Maybe the experience would be better.
For all social media buffs who loves to post their picture, the hotel will at least provide you 15 days of pictures to post. So you can just go around clicking across every nook and corners. So please explore.
I am rating 4 primarily due to poor check in and my experience with breakfast. I hope if I visit again the rating might move northwards
