The Shelburne is a great hotel. It is very conveniently located, a 7 minute walk to Grand Central, less than a mile from Penn Station, near plenty of subways, etc. There is an adequate gym which is clean, and the housekeeping crew and staff are all attentive to their guests needs. My husband requested a different pillow than the standard one offered and they offered him a variety of pillows. They had a non-allergenic pillow made out of buckwheat that he wound up choosing. I was told that they also have pots, pans and hot plates should one want to cook in their room. After a long stay, this is very welcome to avoid having to eat out at restaurants all the time.
In April their rooftop bar is open (which you don t need to be a hotel guest to go to...) and that is just awesome.
