I've been to the Versace a few times now, and all ...

I've been to the Versace a few times now, and all I can say is that it's sadly getting worse and worse. When I first came here, the place was so classy (and worth your money), to the extent that people were not allowed to wear singlets, beachwear and thongs into the restaurant for breakfast.

I'm into Day 2 of our stay here, and it's extremely disappointing so far.

Soon after we checked in, we were berrated by one of the service staff when trying to take a lift down, and he was going up. I let it slide because it was already around 4pm and we just wanted to get to the pool and relax a bit before dinner.

When we arrived at the pool, I proceeded to the pool house to ask for some towels. They didn't have any, and told me to go back up to our room to get our towels. No worries, we didn't need to swim. We decided to order a couple of drinks. We placed our order, and were asked where we are sitting. I replied that we hadn't chosen a place yet, and they said we needed to choose one and give them the seat/table number, so they could place the order and bring our drinks to us. Despite searching several times on the seats we eventually chose, I couldn't find any numbers. Their response was to keep refusing assistance to us, and sending me back to look for the number again. This happened 3 times. I eventually found the seat numbers, by which time the pool fellow told my husband he could "just wait and take the drinks from the bar" himself. Great service.

Before we left, I asked to book a cabana for the next day. To my knowledge from prior visits, you have to book them per day at a price of $50. I was told that you can't pre-book them- you have to come down in the morning on the same day and book them, and told that it was "first in best dressed". No worries. Came down the next morning at about 9am and asked to book a cabana. When they were about to search for me, the "manager" piped up and said "oh sorry, We've actually had a lot of people book them online overnight". Sorry, what? I was told you can't book them in advance. And to make things better, he was speaking to me with such a sarcastic tone of voice and look on his face that I was convinced he was joking for about 5 minutes, and in fact asked several times whether he was kidding.

Meanwhile, there are now people sleeping on the towels on the floor by the pool, while so many cabanas sit there empty.

I have approached the reception today and told them how disappointed we are, and to their credit they have said they will try to assist.

Generally speaking though, this place is not worth the money. You're better off going somewhere like the Sheraton across the road, or the Marriott. Unless you want to pay for their bath slippers- that's probably the best part of coming here.
