My husband and I had such a bad camping trip this ...

My husband and I had such a bad camping trip this week that I thought I'd share a little bit of our experience at Little Arrow Campground in Townsend, TN. My husband, two kids, and two dogs and I left our travel trailer at home and drove from Michigan to Tennessee last Saturday for a trip I had been anticipating for a very long time. The morning after we got there (last Sunday) I went to take a shower at 6 am but the entire shower backed up. Once it drained everything seemed fine, but over the next day or so we realized that something was wrong when the toilets and sinks were also backing up simultaneously. I called the campground and they sent their maintenance guy over. He knew right away that there was a problem so he said he would move us to another tiny home in the campground, however there was another family checking in the next day so we would have to move back again once the plumbing was fixed. That's moving all of our stuff twice. A week's worth of stuff for 4 people and two dogs, plus the groceries we just bought. They basically said that they couldn't just keep us at the other tiny home because it would screw up their system although both homes were exactly the same. They would rather inconvenience us twice.

So, once we moved into the other home temporarily and stayed the one night there before moving back, there were other hiccups but they offered to comp us half off for everything we had gone through. We were trying our best to be good sports and enjoy the rest of our time there.

Well, guess what happened next?! It's 2020. Why not throw in GIANT COCKROACHES. Like 2-3 inches long. Scurrying across the wall at 11pm the night we moved BACK into our original, screwed up tiny home. This was Monday night now. We were absolutely petrified and disgusted. Once we killed the beast we tried to convince ourselves that there was only one. Lol. Guess what happened next? Tuesday night. We had a long day in Pigeon Forge and didn't get back from dinner until 11pm. We got the kids to bed, got ourselves ready for bed... But then I had to come out of the room to get a bottle of water. ANOTHER cockroach. And another. And another. In the bed with my two year old child. It's as big as my thumb. No exaggeration.

We couldn't do it. We packed everything up. Loaded the dogs and our sleeping children. Drove 8 hours home, taking turns so we could get some kind of sleep.

We left two days early. I called once we got home to inform them of the incident but the lady couldn't care less. Her exact words to me were "oh, maybe it's just the season. Sorry!" She said she'd look into refunding us and that she would email me but the only email I received reflected the half off they gave us for the first incident. We still paid about $800 for the few inconvenient days we were there.

We're very disgusted and disappointed with having to cut our trip short and the way that management handled the situations that we experienced. We would not recommend this "outdoor resort" to anyone.

***Their response below is appalling. They gave us a bundle of firewood and two little stuffed animals for the boys. That's it, and we didn't ask for it. We Did not get ice, and I have no idea what baggage they're referring to as we loaded and unloaded everything ourselves twice. I don't care what kind of roach it was or the cleanliness of the bug... There were multiple of them, 2-3 inches long, crawling everywhere! I don't want them in my things or on my children. Shame on your lack of consideration and justification for every single inconvenience we encountered, because there were several. Give us our money back!
