We made reservations 2 weeks in advance for lunch ...

We made reservations 2 weeks in advance for lunch for our group of 12. My friend and I had both called asking about bringing wine. The gentleman in the phone told us both that there will be a $40++ corkage fee. We were fine with that. But when we asked them to open the wine. The management lady asked us for the receipt. Because they want to make sure we paid taxes on the wine. We told her we were never told on the phone that we needed to show them receipts for the wine when we called. We didn t have receipts for the wine we brought from our home. My friend s wine was bought from the airport duty free so the management lady said they can t open it. The ones I brought from home also can t be opened because I didn t have the receipt. Who would keep and carry the receipts for their wine?
There is nothing in the wine menu regarding corkage fees and showing the receipts as proof. She could not produce any written information regarding this to show us. Just kept repeating it. We ended up nor being able to open any of the wines that we brought.
We were given the wine and food menus to share between the 10 of us. I asked if there was a set menu. The waitress brought me one menu to share. I asked if she can bring us more menus. She looked annoyed when she went to get more.
We all ordered the set lunch and two naan breads. After 10 mins the warm naan breads arrived on the table. I asked Can we all get small plates please? Her reply was You will all get a big plate from your lunch set. So we got nothing. We all sat there looking at each other with a bewildered look as our naan got cold sitting in the table as we waited for our lunch sets to arrive. We were refused plates.
It was a very tense lunch as the place got filled up with more costumers and less attention was paid to us. The food was good and cooked nicely.
We were served our tea/ coffee after our meal. When we asked, Could we get more milk please? The management looked as me and said There s three already. and walked away. Meaning the small 2 oz milk holders on the table for all 10 of us to share. Our coffee cups were half full. I had to ask the waitress twice to get more milk before it arrived and our coffees were cold. We were able to cut our birthday cakes and left. This was the most disappointing birthday lunch I ve ever had. As all of us tried our best to not make it worse by not arguing or raising our voices. This was my birthday and my friend s belated birthday. We can all see the staff and management were calculating everything as to give us the bare minimum so they can still say they proved.
We paid the check and left very disappointed from all the raves we ve hear from our friends that went here. Only to be disappointed. I gave 2 stars because the food was good. Service needs to change. Next time just tell your costumers they can t bring wine instead of all this mess.
