Since you truncated two city stores into one ( read 18 floors into 9), you have to go up through five floors ( all women's wear excluding the food hall) to eventually find a mediocre and over priced men's wear floor. I have now found David Jones no longer stock 2xist underwear, instead grossly overpriced $40 for a pair of knickers anyone) with the obligatory designer label. Helpful staff indicated ( off the record of course) that perhaps I could try on-line ? When I indicated my preference for mortar and bricks over online they indicated that management no longer bother to take on feedback from the coal face and are immune to what is happening. I decided not to waste the trip and went to.purchase some chinos. Went to the register, only to find an elderly man attempting to get a sale for $200 only to be told by the staff that until further notice they were only accepting contactless sales. When I indicated that perhaps some indication of this change of policy would be appropriate, they pointed to a six i nch by four inch sign beside the register! My immediate thought was why have this at point of sale (end journey) and not prominently displayed at point of entry? Why take someone on the complete journey only t o effectively tell them your money is basically worthless? This poor man was obviously struggling with this concept of no cash accepted. Staff indicated he could go to a post office and purchase a money card or purchase a David Jones gift certificate instead (,And how would this work if you there was no cash accepted?). After 15 minutes I have up, left my chinos there and walked out. Two missed sales of app $289.00. How many more David Jones? I then walked down to the basement to "Customer Service" and asked how to relay " negative feedback". I was told staff could do it there and then, but that would mean they would have to type it in, or I could go online and do it myself! God forbid! Guys, the demise of a once grand Department store, where David Jones was a treat and a destination based on quality merchandise with staff who cared, who were empowered to act and seemingly management who valued their staff. Your staff actually indicated to go online instead of shopping at "DJ's". Enough said really......let's Just see if they have a " social media" manager who can be bothered with a reply?
