We stayed here on Thanksgiving. We had an amazing time!! It didn't start out that way. I had a time of it trying to get anyone to tell me if Spindletop or Shula's would be open on Thanksgiving Day. I called them, messaged them on FB, looked everywhere online, and each time I was met with rudeness. We arrived not knowing if we'd be able to eat in the hotel. One woman in "customer service" was probably the rudest person I've ever spoken to. Her name was Elaine. From booking to checking in it was nothing but rudeness from every employee.

But everything changed after we finally got checked in. It's Thanksgiving afternoon and we go to the Lobbibar. Behold, Clifford the bartender! We were on a six day road trip through Texas, and this day being Thanksgiving we weren't sure where to go with only a few hours in Houston. Clifford not only helped us with our options, he answered ALL of our questions! He was friendly, professional, helpful, funny, and turned everything around for us regarding our stay there. We spent the afternoon sightseeing on his recommendations and returned, to the Lobibar that is. About this time we meet Maria, the manager there, who was just as awesome as Clifford. Two very friendly, happy, helpful faces we really appreciated! We ate dinner at Shula's, met a wonderful veteran and shared dinner with him, then returned to wonderful Clifford and the Lobibar, again. Maria was always nearby, cheerfully working hard, visiting when she could. We left the next morning, our stay having been made what it was by Clifford and Maria's hospitality. They stand out in a sea of grumpy, bored, unhappy people working there. So if you're faced with inhospitable cranks, find one of them! The Hyatt itself was beautiful as it always is. Shula's was incredible. But as always, service is everything. Thank you Clifford and Maria!
