Tons of events, art classes, gallery viewings, and if you become a member which is actually inexpensive you get access to everything a la carte so you can pick and choose what you want to do and pay much less than the public as well as getting access to special events and activities. My daughter goes to art school here and loves it.

I took the hour and twenty min' drive with this being the first and primary stop on the trip. I get there, I get help from the gate attendant, park, and even open up the door to the art gallery, only to find out the gallery was completely closed to the public for exhibition switchovers.

I did check, and I don't remember seeing this information available on the website nor was it given to the gate keeper, whom I informed. And the only one who was apologetic was the gatekeeper.

So personally I would always call ahead if i ever went back in order to verify information and availability.

We have often visited the collaborative and have always enjoyed the art displayed. However, yesterday (7/28/18) when we arrived at around 4:20 pm to have another enjoyable day, they were closed. Should not advertise that you are open and then be closed!!

The Mystic Museum of Art owns a property on River Road they have left dilapidated. They were given this property and are fighting to pay the taxes on this. Both points are wrong. Do the right thing Mystic Museum of Art.

I really enjoyed the Mystic Museum of Art. The artwork was interesting. I especially liked Paul White's paintings. The museum had a lot of interesting paintings from many different art periods.

A top rate museum that offers art classes and camps for kids as well as fund raiser dinners and seasonal events. Members get viewings of new art work before the public and it has the best staff anywhere so if you are interested in getting your child art lessons this is the place don't even bother looking any further.

This is such a pretty art gallery that is free to the public, unless you park your car in the parking area, then you have to pay a small fee. It doesn't really have a feel of a "museum" since a lot of the pieces are for sale. There are however several pieces that are permanent (NFS) and some that are on loan. A staff member who was very friendly and helpful said that the gallery changes the exhibit every six months. My favorite piece was the polar bear sculpture and that unfortunately is one of the permanent pieces in the gallery. I would come here again in the future to see what other kind of art is put on display.

We had our daughter's wedding here on June 16, 2018 and it was absolutely beautiful. The staff were helpful and made the place ready for us well ahead of our scheduled times, allowing the caterer and florist ample time for set up. The space was perfect for our 110 guests with ample room for a center dance floor in the main hall. The outdoor ceremony using the tree as a focal point was well suited to our overall simple-wedding vision. And we held the cocktail hour on the patio covered with the tent. A Truly lovely venue, and it also had the added benefit of being right in town. We were able to pick up last minute needs for the ceremony from the many shops, and we stayed in the lovely in-town hotels. I highly recommend.

Never made it inside the place. Since parking is sparse downtown they offer this area to be used as public parking. They charge an outrageous amount whether or not you are going into the museum. They realize the problem with parking and take advantage of the circumstances. I made a U-turn and left without seeing the art museum or any other sightseeing opportunities in the quaint little neighborhood located across the bridge on Main street. Very disappointing, wanted to eat at Mystic Pizza also and had to go without!

Visited for a class. I had never attended a paint/sip class before. The martinis were good. The class itself had no instruction, and you find yourself trying to figure things out on your own. People who got there early picked over the articles that were there for everyone to choose from. Again, i had to figure this out on my own because there was no instruction. I found this to be disappointing.

A mom friend and I went to visit with 6 kids total. We worried we were going to overwhelm the place with our group, but the staff went above and beyond. They were friendly and helpful. We were beyond pleased at the whole experience.

Don't judge the Mystic Art Center by the parking lot attendants. Be nice to them. They have to do their jobs and can't make allowances for rude artists. Melissa J (comment below) sounds bitter. Too bad she is giving a great institution a bad name.

Lovely little art gallery. Recommend going to an opening where they have the back patio open. Great location on the water which can be fully utilized. Celebrate local artists and always changing up the visiting shows. Easy walk from downtown mystic when looking for an activity to add to a day walking around downtown in the summer.
