Review of Connaught Hotel

Where should I start? This is my first comment here. Since I have been looking forward to treat myself an afternoon tea in London, after lots of homework I finally decided to come to Connaught, made a last minute reservation and received a table after a bit of waiting, so far so fine. Didn't seem to have much dress code since there're quite a few guests in jeans and trainers. Food and tea is delicious, personnel generally nice and welcoming despite some chaos at first (did notice this waiter had been sort of losing balance for some time, perhaps tired, but didn't expect him to bump into a colleague, break a glass and look shocked, or when I overheard staff being sort of mad at each other despite silently but this is their office so still quite comprehensible) But what I am very upset about is a curly hair in my sandwich, not hair from your head so I've no idea where it comes from. Now I have been to lots of cheap cafes and pubs, however this is seriously the first time in my life to have a hair in my food, and in a 5 star hotel! How would you expect that in this price range? I had to praise myself for not throwing up. They immediately changed the sandwich for me, offered me free champagnes, assured me that they are going to investigate, I had two refills of tea, and later I learnt that I didn't need to pay the bill. Obviously their reputation is more important than my bill, so I thought that I would give them a 3-star for their effort despite the hair which literally destroyed appetite, since I don't want to be too mean just because of an accident. Finally I wasn't able to finish the sweets, so had it packed and took it home. Due to lots of walking after a day the sweets are not in the best shape, bumping against each other, but alas! Another hair sticking out from the sweets! This time is a hair from the head (thanks God, it is less disturbing than the first one), obviously not mine, but due to the condition of the sweets it is difficult to judge whether it was already there at first, or until when the staff packed it up for me. Now I doubt that I am the only guest who have this hair problem. Perhaps this is my lucky day and I should buy the lottery. Very sorry to say this, but look carefully before you eat at Connaught. It is a pity since I really love the surroundings and the interior which I find much nicer than other hotels, but definitely not visiting again. And Connaught please do your management and quality control if you don't want to lose more customers, this is not acceptable.
