Took a leisurely drive up to beautiful Mt Mee to lunch at the fabulous Ocean View Estates. It was a stinking hot day but oh so lovely and cool sitting on the huge verandah surrounded by the trees and rolling hills around the winery Ocean View Estates is an award winning winery and brewery hosting weddings, winery tours, dining experiences and onsite accommodation. Only 45km from Brisbane we had a lovely drive through Samford Village and Dayboro to get here.
After we were settled on the huge verandah, a bottle of OVE Unwound Sparkling Chardonnay was promptly brought to our table, and with menus in hand we sat back, revelled in the cooling breeze and made our choices. For me, I couldn't go past the Miso braised lamb shoulder crepinette, with charred eggplant, miso, roasted cabbage and pea tendrils. It was incredibly delicious and the presentation was spot on
My other half chose the Sourdough fillet sandwich - rib fillet, mushrooms, jarlsberg, fresh pickled beets, onion jam, cos, caper, and crumb salad, chips, and aioli - not your average steak sandwich this one
Dessert for me was the Raspberry sorbet, umeshu red fruits, compressed watermelon, strawberry, grape, raspberry powder, and chocolate mint. For him - 'Beehive' Jack's fresh honeycomb, fennel pollen, honey ice-cream, chocolate soil, and honey puffed corn. Both equally scrumptious.
Everything was perfect. Friendly efficient service, delicious meals, and killer views. Well worth the drive up the mountain to experience this. A return visit - possibly for breakfast next time - is definitely in order
