We decided to try out Gordon Ramsay Steak while vacationing in Vegas because I really like master chef and hell's kitchen. We were very disappointed. When the hostess brought us in, she showed us a neon light on the ceiling that represented Gordon's hand movements when he made the beef wellington. I think that's what she said, it was noisy. Like really? Come on Gordon, this is stupid. Gordon would had been furious to try our food. The noise didn't bother me, but the lighting did. I had to pull a light out of my pocket just to see the menu. My wife and I both got the beef wellington and a shellfish platter that consisted of two large shrimp, a couple crab legs and some oysters for $85. Nothing special at all. One of the dipping sauces consisted of a mint herb that my mother grows in her yard. Not impressed. The beef wellington was very tender. I literally cut it with my fork, BUT, mine tasted like a dirty cow. I think many of you know what I mean. It wasn't cleaned right or something? My wife couldn't finish hers because she thought it was raw. It was too dark to see. I ate it because I wasn't wasting all that money. Her beef wellington didn't have the dirty cow taste that mine did. I did not like the crust. The crust tasted like it was made from a can of grand country biscuits and packed around the beef. It was also soggy and my wife felt hers was under cooked and white. Again, too dark to see. The mashed potato puree reminded me of when I was a child and on welfare when we got the mashed potatoes in a box. Maybe instant? Same thing! Oh, also one of the servers for drinks reached over me and my food to re fill my wife's drink. I do not like someone reaching across or over my plate! I should have tried the steak that a table next to us had, it looked great. Probably way cheaper too. Our bill totaled $260 with tip. We wanted to experience Ramsay's beef wellington and so we did. NEVER AGAIN GORDON! My advise to all the readers. Don't do it unless you are rich and like throwing money away. Gordon should fire this chef and be ashamed! Spend $25-$35 for a great piece of beef from your favorite butcher and cook it yourself. Gordon, I am very disappointed.
