A family member of mine was sent here on a 72-hour hold. I didn't sleep a wink once I did research on this place she was being sent to. Her psychiatrist on file, Dr. P, has a concerning criminal record. A former CHILD patient of his killed himself after being prescribed powerful medication by the Dr.! He was also arrested in Florida for driving under the influence and cocaine possession. This is public information how in the world does he still practice??? However, we learned this wasn't the actual psychiatrist she was seeing so we're not sure why he was listed as such. (There was no record of the psychiatrist she was actually seeing, and we couldn't get an explanation for this later.) After her first day, they decided she would stay for an additional period of time and told her if she didn't voluntarily sign consent forms they would place something more powerful than an M2 hold on her that would tarnish her permanent record and force her to stay against her will. THIS IS ILLEGAL! All the reviews about them pulling stunts like this to fluff the insurance bill are TRUE! My family and I were given the run around when trying to speak with management to clarify this threat and get her out of there. We were sent to voicemail, put on hold for hours, hung up on... They were dodging us. We ended up calling her insurance representative for help who then three-way called the facility on a recorded line. Though we still couldn t get any answers, her insurance representative was able to glean there was something fishy going on and filed a complaint on our behalf against the facility. I assume their higher ups must have gotten word about the complaint and phone calls on the recorded line because I received a call from my family members' psychiatrist shortly after. He was evasive about my question whether he threatened to keep her there against her will but in the end, it was obvious this was true. The excuse they use for acting without a patient's consent is due to concern for their safety. But he admitted he didn't believe she was a harm to herself yet believed she need to stay longer for further evaluation. Such BS to pad the insurance bill. After much back and forth, he agreed to release her on the originally intended date. I can't express how much of a nightmare this place is and how much they didn't offer any help to my family member. I truly believe they would have held her longer against her will if her wonderful insurance representative didn't step in to help us. It's scary to have your rights taken away and end up in a situation like this where people can so easily manipulate "the law" to make a profit off of you with no regard for your wellbeing. How are these places not exposed for the criminal activity and misconduct that goes on? Read the review from a former employee, Chelsea Eichler, who confirms this place is corrupt. Since getting my family member out of here we've sought ACTUAL help from REAL professionals. I hope leaving this here will help even one person considering this place.
