This is a wonderful hotel, with very fine rooms and public areas, excellent food and afternoon tea, and decorated very handsomely as well. But over the four days that my wife and I stayed here, what mattered more were the staff: The servers at the restaurant who were particularly skilled at conversation and at carving up fish; the Spanish woman who served us afternoon tea and shared with my pregnant wife that she too had become pregnant recently; the front desk staff who took care of us when my wife accidentally destroyed one of her 120V hair appliances with 240V British receptacles; the breakfast staff who were always very pleasant and accommodating; and the guest managers who sent us champagne and tiramisu upon learning that we were there for a babymoon .
I don't visit London frequently, so it would be difficult for me to make comparisons to other hotels, but this one was truly something special.
