My family of five, 2 adults, 3 younger children reserved a 1 bedroom suite. Upon arriving in Florida we phoned to ask if we could checkin 230pm instead of 4pm. After a short hold, we were informed our room was not yet ready.

We went to a late lunch at 230pm, and shopped, we arrived after 6pm to discover that they didn't have our room, but would give us two adjoining rooms. With my young son being young, this would mean my husband and I had to split up into two rooms with our girls. While this was a potential solution we asked the girl at the front desk to see if anything else was possible.

A more senior gentleman arrived to say we could cancel our reservation if two adjoining rooms didn't work. It was a little upsetting since we had driven all that way.

My husband walked in with our luggage moments later to find out there was an issue and the gentleman offered my husband a different one bedroom suite which suddenly was available in a king bed (instead of two full). This was a difficult option for five people.

My husband recounted our call to ask to checkin early that day and questioned why we weren't notified then about the room issue. He told my husband the Marriott often overbooks hotels and this can happen. He was rather apathetic and left us with little choice. After many discussions he gave us two rooms for the price of the one room, but our 4th of July vacation splitting into two rooms was not what we hoped in addition to the poor customer service and disregard. I am disappointed in our stay and experience.
