Dan Bowles Review of Thunder Tower Harley-Davidson

I am honestly not sure why there are any good reviews of this place on here. I ve been riding bikes my whole life, but this was my first experience buying a Harley. First, I went in there knowing what bike I wanted. They did a better job on price than Augusta Harley so I figured it would be a slam dunk. Took the bike on a test ride, I was satisfied, and on we went to the finance guy. Didn t realize it at the time, but he ended up charging me $1414 for a one year extended service plan on a 3 year old bike with only 498 miles on it! Through extensive research, I ve come to learn that this was a total ripoff. Next, I went over to parts to get some new handlebars thrown on. Rather expensive but that s to be expected. From there, we went to service, where I was quoted at 8 hours of service, to replace handlebars. I m not a mechanic, but that seems a little extreme. I was never given a date that my bike would be ready by either. Having realized this the next day, I called in and was told that it be ready in 9 days. Okay. Frustrating, but okay, I understand that it is peak buying season and they are busy. However, I was assured that the bike would be ready on that day because They put aside the whole day for my bike and that They did me a favor by rushing my bike in. That magical 9th day rolled around and I woke up giddy, waiting for my bike. I didn t hear anything from them until about 2:30, and that was a call for me to approve $40 bushings that they forgot to mention initially. I approved it and asked if it would have to be ordered or not, to which I, once again, was assured that the part would not have to be ordered and that the bike should probably be done that day, if not, first thing the next morning. I asked the serviceman to give me a call around 4:00, as I live an hour and a half away, and would have to try to make it there before they close. 4:35 rolled around without a call so I called and inquired about the status of my bike. The response that I got is that they ran out of some type of pin (not the same part they mentioned before), it s on order, and now the bike will be ready in 5 days. I immediately requested to speak to the service manager. I explained to him how I was very disappointed in their customer service to which he responded, I understand you want someone to blame, but there really isn t anyone to blame. If you want to blame us, that s fine, but unfortunately these things happen when you are the #1 dealer in the southeast. He went on to explain that they are going through staffing issues and that they are very busy with all the bikes right now. During my purchasing experience, all I kept on hearing is that they are the #1 dealer in the southeast .I ended up picking up my bike on the 4th day instead of the 5th which was nice. However, the bike was not detailed and the handgrips that I ordered were not on the bike! The service guy said that they never came in. Then he told me to get a feel for the bike with the new handlebars, and they would install the grips on the next service. I politely alluded to the fact that I will never be coming back. Very unorganized, very unprofessional, and very disappointing. I will be dealing with Augusta Harley from here on out.
