Shame. I'll no longer get Motorola phones. . . and...

Shame. I'll no longer get Motorola phones. . . and they are usually at such a great price. But a company that would tell it's customer directly it doesn't have faith in it's product is a bad, bad, bad sign. Let me explain.

I've had a few Motorola phones. I had a Nexus 6, that ended up having WiFi connectivity issues. I went through tech support, all the tier levels. I wasted so much time to ultimately get a replacement phone. Of course, you have to pay $24.99 to have them ship it to you first, or you find a loaner, go to your carrier, have it switched to an old loaner, then repeat the process a week or so later when you get your new phone. So I chock up the $25, for convenience sakes, though the phone was in warranty. So I had to pay for a warrantied phone.

Fast forward to my z2 turbo. In warranty, the battery goes to junk. Can't hold a charge for more than an hour. I call and go through the process, yet again, chock up the money. Now I'm $50 in.

I get a replacement and within 4 months, the finger print sensor doesn't work. Yeah. I called tech support again, went through the tiers, was told the phone should be replaced and it'll cost me $25. I said "look, this is getting old, can you waive the fee?" After some work they said "okay, lemme get you over to customer service."

Customer service acknowledges the waived fee and then says the phone is out if warranty. I say "whoa, it's 4 months old!" Warranty is a year. Apparently not on replacement phone's though, 3 months. I'm at like 13 months of total z2 ownership.

I said "hey, I understand your replacement phone's are probably refurbs, hence the 3 months, but come on, it's brand new looking and the sensor went dead. Can you do anything?" They respond with a note the phone is not a refurbished, but brand new. My, my. I say "2 new phones both with issues inside the year warranty!" They were "eh," sounding, like "hey man, welcome to every day at customer service," sounding.

I begged. I said my work neighbor here is rocking a 3 year old Samsung Galaxy phone without issue, I'm a repeat customer with yet another problem, can you do something? They said "nope." I said "come on, 3 year old Samsung, don't you want to back your product?" They said "nope."

I say, "wait, come on, you don't think your phone is a good as Samsung, or apple, or anything?" I get a "that is correct sir, we only warranty for 3 months on the brand new replacement phone." I said, "whoa, did you just say your company doesn't think their phone will continue to work after three months? But you warranty initial sales for 1 year.". "that's correct, the one year warranty is because we've already made money, but 3 months is all we want to warranty the devices."

Damn. I reconfirmed. They straight up repeated that they don't believe their phones will work long term. I ask "so your saying your phone's are junk?" "Yes." Damn again.

Hey, maybe I got a disgruntled employee. Maybe he wanted to shake me. I don't know. Either way, it doesn't look good. 3 phones with issues. Customer service outright calling their products poor. I'm out.

Do what you will but that's the story.

Good luck.
