This hotel will make you want to laugh, cry, rip your hair out, and give you enjoyment. Unfortunately due to a family member being hospitalised we stayed in this hotel for 10 nights. Like the highs and lows felt during the trip this hotel provided for it's own highs and lows.
Positives :
- the housekeeping staff are very friendly
- the staff in the restaurant Neel Mahal were wonderful especially Ashish, Deepak, Arvind, and Naseeb. They really took care of us during our entire stay
- the local food was very tasty and provided for some of our best meals while in India
Negatives:
- the check in process, front desk staff, and all interactions with the front desk are painful! The staff have not been adequately trained and reaching any outcome requires suitable requests
- they levy a 5% service charge on everything including the room charge. This is optional and I'd suggest you ask for it to be removed. We elected to remove all service charges and give cash tips to those staff that provided exceptional service
- forget getting anything done over the phone, ask for your bill get towels, most requests result in no response
- the rooms are in a complete state of disrepair - from damp smells, leaky showers, no hot water, and inconsistent distribution of towels and toiletries the rooms are awful. After complaining for 3 days we were moved to a suite. Unfortunately it smelled like a sewer and was plagued by all the same problems but larger. At least it had hot water!
- your room gets Sky TV but almost none of the channels work. You will also get daily messages on the screen that the account is about to be deactivated
- the WiFi throughout the hotel is rubbish! It drops frequently and is slow when it works, multiple attempts to make WiFi calls failed or calls were dropped resulting in very expensive mobile data bills from the UK
- as this is mostly an Indian wedding hotel it was filled with local guests - these people are some of the rudest loudest people you will ever experience, screaming in the corridors, pushing people around at breakfast, eating next to the breakfast buffet, pushing in and out of lifts, and they are super rude to the staff
I want to encourage people to visit the hotel for the sake of the staff but actually I think it's best avoided and we hope the staff find better jobs elsewhere
