Tess Birch Review of Renaissance Scottsdale Resort

To be honest, our stay warrants 3 stars or less, but I'm giving four, because I know it's not typical, and our issues are only temporary problems that don't deserve a permanent bad review. Still pretty annoyed, though... See, when we booked our stay, we were not made aware that a large portion of the amenities were under renovation. We packed our swimsuits expecting the beautiful pool and splash pad (for our daughter) featured in pictures of the resort to be available. We didn't find out until check-in that all the amenities we planned on were under renovation. Not only this, but the main entrance to the hotel was also under renovation, so we had to use a side entrance that forced us to walk... and walk... and walk... to our room that was almost literally the furthest away we could have been. Arriving late at night with a sleeping infant and 2-year-old who both needed to be carried back to our room was a huge pain because of this. Our walk would have been almost cut in half had the main entrance to the hotel been available. We were not offered anything to make up for the inconvenience, and the only reason we continued our stay was because my husband's company had already paid for our room, and we had plenty we wanted to do off the hotel property anyway. All that said, the hotel and resort are lovely and well kept, the rooms are very nice, and the beds were very comfortable. Had the resort not been under renovation, I'm sure it would have been a perfect stay.
