My husband and I had a beautiful stay at Domes of Elounda back in July 2017. The staff were friendly, the property was very beautiful and all of the food and wine were superb. I left feeling relaxed and happy.

Unfortunately, March 2018 I received an unexpected email from Maria Papathemeli, who does accounts for the resort. This is the first email...
"Dear Mrs Tesone,
I trust you are well. We have an issue with our accountant department regarding the payment of your extras consumptions. Sadly, we just realized that the amount of 1303 euros haven t been charged to your credit card and this amount is still open.
I know it passed almost one year and we are sorry for disturbing you, but I hope if you could assist us and give us a credit card to charge the amount.
Looking forward to your reply,"

I assumed this was a scam because 1.) What accounting department would send an email like this soliciting money with NO ITEMIZED INVOICE attached?!?
2.) who would just ask for your credit card information and expect a stranger to email them back with their credit card number?
3.)it came from an account associated with Ledra Hotels - I had no idea if they were associated with Domes of Elounda.

I ignored this for a bit thinking this has to be a phishing scam email. To my surprise a few weeks later I received another email saying the same thing. I booked this trip through Mr. and Mrs. Smith to ask if this was for real and they said it sure was. I told them that I needed to be given an actual itemized invoice for this so I know what this is for, and that I also that they need to send the option for a secure method of payment.

Maria - from the team's accounting department then sent a Paypal link that was broken along with an itemized invoice that sure - looked fine, but I have no idea what I ordered for room service almost 1 year after the trip.

I told them that since I had already paid for the trip in full and this is a huge billing mistake on their part they should really comp me if there are outstanding charges. It is so ridiculous to contact guests 9 months after the fact to ask for money. It's not only unprofessional but it has left a terrible taste in my mouth.

Too bad for the rest of the hardworking team at Domes of Elounda because their accounting department has left me regretting my stay with them and baffled by the extra 1303 Euros that I have no idea I owed until 9 months after!
