My wife, daughter and I chose to book this hotel last weekend because we are Hilton Honor's members and every stay we have had at a Hilton, or Hampton in by Hilton has been amazing. This trip was not that. We wanted to do a get away to the Mall of America. We checked in and got cookies. Little did I know that the cookie would be the best part of the hotel. Upon check in I spoke with the front desk and confirmed that the pack and play / crib requested in my reservation for my 8 month old daughter was in our room. I then spoke with the valet found out it was $10.00 to use the Valet for the night and we could still come and go as we pleased. As the hotel was busy for Saturday night we figured $10 for parking was reasonable and I didn't have to walk half a mile in February, in Minnesota. Shortly after unpacking we decided to go to the Mall of America. We stayed at the mall until 9 pm and drove back to the hotel arriving before 9:30 pm. I pulled up to the valet area and walked inside. The valet was no where to be found. I spoke to the front desk and was told that due to under staffing the valet had been pulled to drive the hotel shuttle back and forth to the airport. We could no longer use the valet and I had to find a parking spot in the back of the parking lot.

We then went upstairs to our room. We had not checked the room earlier and that was my fault as I wanted to go to the mall and Ikea. The pack and play / crib promised was not there. My wife called down to the front desk and asked if one could be brought up. She was rudely told that the hotel did not have them and hung up on. I checked the website for the hotel and called the reservation desk, both confirmed that the hotel did have them. I walked down stairs and found an employee who told me that it was a housekeeping issue and that he would try and find one. He came back and informed me that housekeeping was backed up a few hours and he would try and find one. about 30 min later I finally had the pack and play.

Some of the rooms on my floor were also trying to give cheech and chong a run for their money or were partying with Willie Nelson himself.

The next morning we got up to take a shower. My wife was taking a shower and found out that if you set the hot water to a reasonable temperature it would hold that temperature for a short time (under a minute) before it would either go scolding hot or cold. She ended up giving up on trying to was her hair in the shower and chose to rinse out the soap in the bathroom sink instead. There were other minor issues, such as the vending machines were out of water so the option for a bottle of water (for my daughters formula) was to buy it at the starbucks kiosk at a total of $12 for 3 bottles of water. (thats more expensive than disney world and this hotel is no where near as nice or fun)

All in all this hotel was a disaster that looks like it came out of the 1970's. It does not live up to the hilton name, and how it still has 4 stars is beyond me. Im fully expecting Terry the manager to respond telling me he is sorry about my experience and will use it as a learning experience, from the reviews previously, it is my opinion that those words have previously been said and not followed up with by action.
