Visiting this place was very emotional for me when I was young. My wife and I took my sons here recently. They got to see it at the age Anne was when her family hid there. Over the last decades this important historical destination has evolved from the start of the tour being at the bottom of the building to now occupying several buildings around it.

You must get reservations/buy the tickets well in advance. I recommend getting them several months in advance if you want some control over when you can go and if you're with a larger party. Nobody gets in unless you're holding tickets and it's impractical to expect to buy them upon arrival.

This place stands as a testament to something that's difficult to imagine, a brutality still very recent. The more painful a memory is the greater is the tendency, to suppress it, to want to forget. We must never forget.
