Truly disgusting experience with Apple and Westwor...

Truly disgusting experience with Apple and Westworld today. I took my phone in to get a screen fixed, I was directed to Westworld via the apple service website. The phone had a damaged screen but it functioned perfectly before the service. As it was an older iPhone 7 the screen was only worth fixing if I still had apple care to use on the repair. If I had apple care the repair would cost $30, if not I have to pay $200. This would not be worth it as the phone is valued at $140 by Apple.

Before handing my phone over I asked for confirmation that I had apple care that could be used. The Westworld employee confirmed I did. I paid the $30 and I left my phone with them to be fixed. When I returned I was told the software needed to pair the new screen to the device was down and they were unsure of when it would be working again. I need my phone for work so I asked what my options were. I was told that if I needed my phone back right away the only option would be to put the old screen back on the phone. If I could wait they would keep my device for a day or two and try again when the pairing software was up and running. The problem is they had absolutely zero certainty of when that may be.

I asked them if the phone would function properly if they installed the old screen. The technician ensured me that it would. I agreed for them to reinstall the old screen. After waiting another 45 minutes for the old screen to be re installed the technician called me up to grab my device. Half of the screen was black with lines through it. The screen was glitching and opening random apps without touching it. The phone was completely useless. I was unable to use it for anything work related or for personal use.

I told the technician that the phone will not be any use to me in this condition. I was unable to make a call or text. The message app would randomly start typing and glitching and the phone app was inaccessible. He told me there was nothing he or I could do. He then told me the next available appointment at the apple store for repair was on Wednesday (3 days from now).

I received a refund for the screen repair and immediately drove to the apple store in West Edmonton Mall. I told the staff there what happened and they insured that they could fix the mistake. When I was greeted by and Apple employee he informed me that I DID NOT have any apple care left and that it was going to cost $200. He told me WestWorld was incorrect about the Apple care. I informed him about the frustrating morning at Westworld. I was also very clear that if I knew about the apple care being used I would have just kept the cracks on the screen. The manager at the Apple store was called out and wanted to get my story. I told him what had happened so he asked what I thought the corrective action should be. I told him I just want the screen fixed for $30. Should not be a big deal for a corporation such as Apple. He said they could not do that. The conversation ended with me either upgrading my device and getting $140 in accessories (value of iphone 7), or paying $200 for a screen fix. He did not recommend the fix due to the value of the phone, which I already knew.

I do not want to update my phone yet as there is no current Iphone that is 5G compatible. I was planning on buying a new device once they are 5G compatible. Now I am now stuck between upgrading to a phone I do not want or overpaying for a screen fix. Very Frustrating Sunday that lasted 6 hours over a cracked screen!
