Christine Zhang Review of Shakespeare's Globe

I visited the theatre and partook in a tour late last year, but I cannot forget my experience and feel the need to leave a review, albeit late. My partner and I are Asian-Australians, and were part of a mixed tour group. During the introductions, the tour guide asked everyone to introduce themselves with their name and country of origin. We went around in a circle, but when it came to our turn, the guide looked at us up and down, said "oh, well moving on then" and went straight to the next Caucasian individual. She did this to another Asian couple also, presumably assuming none of us could speak English. Then, she suggested all non-English speakers put in their audio tour headphones, looked pointedly at us, and mimed the actions of putting something into ones ear. This is disappointing and frankly embarrassing for an attraction which no doubt garners visitors from all over the globe. I was so deeply offended by this experience and remain so to this day. I would suggest some education be directed towards tour guides with regards to racial profiling and cultural sensitivity.
