Dale Herr Review of Pearson Ford

I am a little disappointed that when I first learned of the recall for the freezing of the door latch, I called to make an appointment, and was told that until a problem was apparent they would not address the issue. This was late fall of last year long before freezing temperatures had begun. Several months later after an evening of freezing rain, the issue did present itself. However, far from being an annoyance, if was a significant safety issue, for the door would not close properly. In fact, I had no choice but to drive the truck with the rear driver side door swinging open and closed.
When I brought this up with the service writer, I was told that the reason behind this approach was that if a repair was made during warmer temperatures, and was not effective, then Ford would not reimburse the dealership for a second attempt at fixing the issue.
I get both the dealership s position as well as Ford s. However, this puts the interests of the owner, behind both the dealership s and Ford Corporation. This action puts the owner at potential exposure to a serious safety issue with the vehicle.
