Local restaurant that has been in business since the early 1900s, it's actually in an old industrial building that actually was an icehouse, hence it's name.
It has a faithful local following and very much a neighborhood favorite, but has also been discovered by the more knowledgeable summer visitors - and that's saying something due to the fact it is off the beaten track and several blocks from the waterfront. Unfortunately that means it's usually packed (the restaurant) and wait times to be seated can easily be 30-45 minutes or more unless you get there early - before 5:30pm! You can usually get into the bar without much of a wait but that's popular and packed too.

Most of the local neighborhood places like this have great daily specials and Icehouse is no exception. You can get one of their 1/2 lb burgers with one side for under $6 as an example, and a fantastic value when you consider not only portion sizes but also that it's a regular sit down meal served by fantastic wait staff. Even with a drink it's less expensive that a fast food place, it's a meal that can't be beat for quality, ambiance or price.
I highly recommend this place, it's worth the effort to get there. Be warned that parking is virtually non-existent next to the restaurant but there is ample parking across the street, or park on 10th Street behind the restaurant. With those two parking options you can always find a free place to park that is only a very short walk from the restaurant.
