Kevin Burdick Review of The Buttes Marriott

I will be honest I have passed by this hotel / resort about a million times. I have wanted to stay here for years. Finally made the move and well... a bit underwhelmed. My wife and I were celebrating our 23rd anniversary. We showed up for check in and I asked if we could get a room with a view? The view was of the building across the freeway... not to mention the room was on the other end of the resort. Sooooo.... while we are walking to the room in BFE - it gave me time to notice that the carpet in the hallways was a bit dated and worn. At least I would say a bit more worn for a $300 a night room should be. Additionally when we finally got to the room it was not necessarily the cleanest. Now we have kids and we know that with that there is a certain amount of well - stuff that you put up with. After our hike we did not want go back and ask for a different room. The bathroom floor looked like it needed to be mopped, there was mildew in the shower, on the ceiling and spots in the grout and to be honest I just stayed at a much cleaner hotel in Ca for half the price and half the rating and it was cleaner. The front desk staff was uninterested and seemed a bit disconnected to what is going on around them. So my though was if we go back to the front desk - where would they send us next? Would we spend the first half an hour at the hotel wandering with our bags here and there? I don't know? Overall not a great visit... It was not all bad though. The bed was really great. We did sleep in until checkout and then mosey on our way. Also the room service was pretty good. A bit over priced but from what we tried for breakfast it was tasty and hot. Would I stay here again... I don't know. The phoenix area has several resorts to choose from. I may try a different one.
