****FURIOUS!!! DID NOT NOTIFY OF IMPENDING DEATH!!! LIED ABOUT CONDITION GIVING FALSE HOPE!!! LACK OF REGARD FOR PATIENT PRIVACY!!!****

We almost lost my mother-in-law two years ago from heart complications and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Nobody told us that was a death sentence with a less than 5-year life expectancy. We lost her last Thursday and during her time in intermediate Care nobody bothered to explain what was going on or what Intermediate Care was. We had no idea that she was dying and they told us several times that she was "getting better" and telling us they were going to do dialysis for several days before telling us that she wouldn't survive dialysis. We feel robbed of precious moments with her that if we had known the gravity of the situation we would have spent with her and somebody would have been with get around the clock and she wouldn't have died alone. She died the night my wife finally got them to admit she was passing away so we had no time to notify family so that everyone could say their goodbyes. Her own grandchildren didn't even get to say goodbye. We had intended to take them to see her that day, but she died around 1:30am.

While she was in intermediate care, the nurses stood with the door open while she was on the toilet and lifted her gown to clean her multiple times in different occasions without regard for her privacy, doing so with her ex-husband, (adult) kids, and son-in-law in the room.

I would give them negative stars if I could! We've had other negative experiences with them in the past as well, but my mother-in-law told the EMTs that's where she wanted to go so we had no choice. When we inquired about moving her to Emory it was too late because she wouldn't have survived the trip.
