One of my dogs was critically ill, GI bleed and diarrhea. I called my regular vet b/c it was during business hours, and because I live near VRCC and not near him, he told me to talk her to VRCC. I called to tell them I was on my way. The receptionist rudely interrupted me and told me that because it was business hours I would have to wait to see the internal medicine doctor, and the minimum was over $200 (I was upset and don't remember the exact amount. I hung up and called my friend who works with FLAG and she recommended Dr. Bayer over on Patterson Ave right by Rt. 288. Dr. Bayer saved my dog's life! He took care of her right away, and while she did have to spend one night in ICU (Cary Street), she is completely recovered. She had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, which is treatable with fluids, anti-emetics, and antibiotics. I thought this was what the VRCC was for. Guess I was wrong. If you want to be treated rudely and gauged because you love your pets, definitely go there.
