Recently, I had the task of navigating through the Medicare portal with the hopes of obtaining a thorough understanding of my coverage options. As a new enrollment, I found myself dealing with a possible underwriting issue. Apparently, you have 180 days after being eligible for Part A and B to enroll in a part C Medigap plan. I was out of the window of eligibility by one day because I had won a long court battle in reference to obtaining these benefits. After a successful decision, they backdated my Medicare Part A and B enrollment outside of the 180 window to be underwritten for a Medigap Policy. Fortunately, I found Wayne Coates with "GoMedigap." Wayne is extremely knowledgeable about the medicare system and more importantly, Wayne really cares about his clients. Wayne called Medicare with me on the phone lobbying for a loophole which would allow me to be underwritten within the normal period of enrollment . This period is vital to anyone with pre-existing conditions. After receiving no help from Medicare , I hung up feeling a sense of defeat and hopelessness. The next day Wayne called me and told me he had found a way to get me insured with a Medigap Part F plan.
