I've just booked my 3rd stay at Buttermilk Inn and Spa.I cannot say enough about Buttermilk!! It is the most beautiful, relaxing and "guest centered" place I have ever stayed. An earlier post mentioned that she saw nobody at the Spa and Pool, that's the best little secret of this jewel on the Hudson! The place can be entirely booked, but the only time you see anyone is at Breakfast! The rest of the time, feel free to pretend it is your own Country Manor House! The salt water pool, encased in full glass housing with wide opening windows; lets the sun and the mountain breezes in. Too Hot? Close the windows--the air will come on. Too cold? Close the windows--the heat will come on. Raining outside? Who cares, you'll lay in your lounge chair and watch the raindrops fall. The Spa offers not only complementary tea, but also, nuts, dried fruit, juices, bottled water and granola bars. Still hungry? Walk 30 feet to the dining room, there is always coffee, teas, fruit, a sweet treat and granola bars available. Still can't satisfy that hunger? When checking in, we were shown the "Fridge'" wherein sat organic beverages, yogurts and the like. Of course, you are always free to bring any "goodies" you wish with you to the Inn, you can label them and put them in the "Fridge," which you may access anytime. Haven't tried Henry's yet, plan to this trip. In the past the Inn would gladly place and accept your orders to a handful of local eateries. Deli, Pizza, Burgers, etc. We've taken advantage of the Culinary Schools restaurants, and driven to Rhinebeck where we've sampled some of the best restaurants in the Hudson River area. Also visited some lovely little shops in Rhinebeck. The last time we were at the Inn, there was a guided nature walk led by a naturalist and the Inn's groundskeeper. It was a beautiful hike, with a box lunch included. The women running the hike were extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. That evening, there was a special dinner in the breakfast room. When we walked in, we met with and sat with the folks we met on the hike. We had a great time visiting with folks from Texas and sharing Margheritas!
I can't say enough about Buttermilk, perhaps I should shut up and keep it my own little secret!!
