I love libraries and have worked in the Columbus Metro Library System for years. I know how to give good customer service and what it looks like to receive it, but unfortunately, I did not experience good customer service today at the Stow Library. I obtained a card so we could use materials when we are here in Stow to visit my 98 yr old mother-in-law. I came in today and made the mistake of asking the person at the check out desk if she would check in my 5 dvds so I could be assured the card was cleared before we left the area. "We do not check in items at this desk" was her reply. You can check on line later to see if your card is clear. It would be understandable if there were a line of customers waiting for her to check out their items. However, that was not the case. There was no one in line. Since we were leaving the area, I would not have been able to check online to view the status of my card. I explained that, but evidently, policies are more important than people. It would have taken all of 2 minutes to check in my 5 dvds and let me know my card was clear. THAT would have been good customer service.
