I spent a week there. They never once brought me a vegetarian meal. They were late with my insulin and after taking my personal medications away they lost them! They place was dirty, on the night I was admitted the bed they had for me had a huge soaking wet urine puddle on it. The doctors were clueless when it came to bedside manner and the nurses were always angry. I was about to have surgery when they read me my mother's chart that was mixed up with mine: ie mine on one page and my mother's on the next and mine on the next. Needless to say I was very wary when I went under! If you can avoid it, DON'T GO HERE!

This is a wonderful hospital! Fortunately, I have never had to use their services but my mother, father and nephew have. My father has had multiple surgeries and outpatient services, my nephew utilized the Emergency Department and my mother has had imaging services. I am happy that my family can have a reliable hospital right around the corner from where they live. Keep up the good work PBMC!
I had my knee replaced on December 20th, 2019 at the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, NY. My Pre-Op testing went very smoothly. The class i took preparing me for surgery was informative and really made a difference for me and my wife. When I arrived for my surgery, EVERYONE, from the parking lot attendants all the way up through the personnel in the operating room and later in the recovery room was everything I could have hoped for.
If I only got quality care and professional, thorough service, that in itself would have been good enough. But the fact that EVERYONE who helped me was ALSO courteous, kind and extremely caring, made my experience the best it could be. I HIGHLY recommend The Peconic Bay Medical Center!
Today I experienced professionalism and great care from beginning to the end of my treatment! Thank you Valentin RN & Dr Palamidessi. Peconic Bay Medical Center be proud of your Emergency Room Staff they re the best! Thank you!
Update: Wish it were possible to give negative star ratings. There are now THREE doctors who have confirmed that in TWO separate visits to PBMC's ER, agree it's ER staff is dangerously incompetent, unresponsive and uneducated. In the process of interviewing attorneys. KA-CHING! If I live long enough for the civil suit to pay out, I will be able to access the Lyme literate doctors, specialists and life-saving, quality of life restoring treatment available to those wealthy enough to afford it out of pocket. Every cloud has a silver lining and KARMA is smiling at me right now!
7-25-12 my husband was transported to PMC,at 1030am by ambulance with signs of dizziness, weakness in right side, tireness, and slurred speech,a CAT scan was performed and nothing was shown,ER Drs said he had vertigo and gave hime a anti-vertigo pill and was kept in the ER for 8 1/2 hrs before we were told that they could do no further tests and were calling Stony Brook transport. He was transported to Stoney Brook Hospital at 1130pm and was later told that he had a stroke , not just 1 stroke but 2 strokes on top of eachother.
Worst experience I gave birth to my baby, doctor treatment bad asking me to be quite while giving birth I ask for the epidural they didn t put it right didn t work at all one leg was numb, the guy was rude saying that with an epidural it s just pushing two times and that s it. I was a traumatic experience, the nurses totally forgot about me baby was negative 8 meaning she was supposed to be out long time ago then the time that they check me. It was only one nurse My sister and at the room doctor cane just at the end. I do t think I ll hace another baby after this experience. Worst hospital ever.

When I became aware that I was going to spend some time in rehab at Peconic Bay Skilled Nursing Facility in Riverhead. I was to say the least with some trepidation.. However when I arrived on the fourth of july 2017 , I was overcome with a Aura of joy, serenity, peace and calm about this place. All I saw was Angels. The likes I have never witness before in my life. For the next 21 days As time would reveal these Angels were Nursing, Rn s, LPN, SNA, Physical Therapy and O/T. Housekeep. and Dietary (food Like a 4 Star Restaurant) anything you needed was provided, It was like we were at a pleasure resort.. What An experience to say the least. I would highly recommend PBMC . God Bless All The Angels At PB .. GREAT EXPERIENCE..
I had the worst medical experience of my life at this hospital. I went over the summer after having severe 10/10 pelvic pain and vomiting. They completely dismissed my pain and acted like I was making it up. The condescending male doctor at one point even told me "I mean, you seem to be in discomfort, but would you really say PAIN?" They did an ultrasound and couldn't see one of my ovaries--on the side that was causing me the most paint--but just shrugged and didn't try any harder. They gave me an Ibuprofen injection and bounced me out after my pain came down to a 5/10, acting like they had done their absolute best. Nobody cared. I have since found out that I had a giant cyst rupture inside my ovary, causing a lot of damage and scarring. I ended up needing a hysterectomy and removal of that ovary. I could have gotten a blood clot or sepsis, but nobody at this hospital would have helped. Don't waste your time.
AWFUL! then again they are Northwell and I've yet to have a good experience with anyone affiliated with Northwell Health. Understaffed at outpatient lab check-in. While there the second out of three times I went to get my script filled, they sent home a mom with a newborn, who was obviously jaundiced, because they didn't accept her insurance. They sent me home with bottles to do my own collection and return the next day (hours on website wrong so all my medical collections were trash and my time wasted). front desk clerk on day three RUDE. one security guard nice one NASTY. a week later and bloodwork results still not at Dr office. AVOID THEM IF AT ALL POSSIBLE
I had to go into the emergency room and the staff at Specific Bay Bay Medical made a very difficult situation go a whole lot easier than I expected. They were very kind, empathetic and professional, a truly great staff. Thank you
The nurses, doctors, and surgeons were great both in Trama and ICU very helpful and informative with out the doctors and nurses at this hospital I wouldn t be alive today
Seems all the reviews I see about every hospital across our county pretty much says the same stuff apparently every single hospital is horrible I think it's mostly bored users but I also noticed a lot of good reviews those are the ones people should take serious.
I was taken to the emergency room at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead following a car accident. The attention, empathy, kindness, efficiency and thoroughness in checking out my injuries and treating them could not have been better. I felt like I could not have been in better hands.
arrived at er at 5pm with my friend . at 9pm still waiting to be seen. we were told one section was closed because they didn't have enough workers. the emergency room was packed and very slow. a lot of people were very upset at the exceptionally long wait. some people left to go to other hospitals in the area.
I have been in the ER a few times for different reasons and different people, but the most recent time I was in there a week ago, with a friend. She was in there for 10 hours, and only saw her doctor twice, once to write down what her symptoms were, and the second to tell her he was leaving and the new doctor was coming in. They kept her in the hallway on a bed, throwing up, and hysterically crying for 10 hours, 3 feet from the nursing station, and not ONE person helped without me bugging them, and even then it would take them FOREVER to even just bring her pain medications. Her doctor just stayed behind the nursing station and in the office back there, and would come out periodically and see me holding her hysterically crying and/or throwing up and would say nothing, or not even come over, or order her more pain medications. I would even look him in the eye and make a motion for help, but he would just look away and walk back into the back office. When he came by to let us know he was leaving for the night, I mentioned to him that he was giving her pain medications that are instructed to not be given on an empty stomach, and reminded him that we told him upon arrival she hadn't eaten in 14 hours since we got in, so if in fact, due to her medical history with ulcers, and that she may have one, that, that would have made her ulcer worse. So I asked him if her testing was done and if she could eat (she hadn't eaten at all in , he said yes, and that he'd send someone to bring her food. No food came at all. I was VERY angry the whole 10 HOURS we were in there. The only two people that were helpful and nice, was a nurse named Ricky, who wasn't even her nurse, and I believe an x-ray tech named Danny. Other than those two people I do not recommend this ER to ANYONE. If at all costs I am never bringing myself or anyone there ever again, third time was definitely the charm, but not in the ER's favor.
I was taken here for an emergency. According to my family they were wonderful and realized quickly that I needed a higher level of care and had me air lifted to a tertiary care hospital I am very thankful for their quick response and supportive care. My daughters told me their nurses were the most compassionate
Worst ER I've ever been to! The nurses were rude and had a nasty attitude. I feel like I was "fat shamed" and the nurse was like "wow your young". What does that even mean?! I feel like I was rushed out and misdiagnosed and I'm still in pain! I wouldn't recommend anyone going there for anything!
It doesn't get much worse than this place. My mother was admitted for 4 days to medical floor via emergency room and not one single doctor called me, as her health care proxy & POA, on any of those days. I was unable to visit, as I have a full-time day job and their limited visiting hours during COVID are 1pm too 5pm. They told me she had a urinary tract infection that they were not going to treat, and so they transferred her to a rehab facility with extreme confusion & severe back pain with a whopping urinary tract infection that the rehab facility is now treating with IV antibiotics. No answer at the nurse's desk most times and when I did get to speak to her nurses, all they did was recite lab results from a computer----they had no idea how she was as a human being because they hadn't been in her room in several hours. The nurse manager was rude, disrespectful and worthless about a very important issue and refused to take any action. This admission follows an emergency room visit in March where the ER physician couldn't have cared less about her feet that had 4+ pitting edema and chalked it up to her age. She should have had a cardiac consult/workup in the emergency room. The emergency room was not even busy at that time---the doctor just didn't want to be bothered. One thing I can say is that the RN in the ER was very nice and took her symptoms more seriously than the doctor did. All Northwell cares about is their brand-new, fancy cardiac cath lab---all other patients don't matter.
Worst place to go, the process takes about your whole day, it s an Emergency hospital so you should be taken right away. We came in at 4 and didn t leave until 11, found no results of my fathers pain and didn t take any urine samples until 5 hours later? You could be an immense pain but they don t take care of you until hours later.
The staff has been SUPER helpful, polite, and kind during our 4 day hospital stay. They have been so attentive to our every need and made our stay as comfort as possible.
If covid is causing a situation such as patients ( woman having a child) and the father who has to stay for several days they should up there accomodations not have them sleeping on a back breaking chair!! The man can't even leave the room or even take a walk and if you do you can't return! I know peconic had a very generous 7million dollar donation .. so instead of taking care of rooms from the 70's they build a whole new part to the hospital yet the maturnity ward is still the size of a closet packed with all the stuff needed to take care of a baby and the mother and have a father on a back breaking chair to sit to sleep it's truly not suitable! Fine if you can leave n go lay down in the car at night and come back but for a covid 19 situation this is horrible!!! One other thing when a person is paying for medical attention ask them if they want a clueless trainie following someone like a puppy dog again it's another situation where making $$ trump's all. Another example is not even spending the $$ to have the father's there for maturnity get covid tested!..An employee (registered nurse) told me to be tested I would have to be labeled a patient cause my insurance would have to pay so again $$$!!! This hospital is good for the patients if u don't want to sleep anymore then 10mins at a time maybe if they had rooms alittle bigger like Stonybrook you wouldn't feel smothered beyond belief!!!!
A few nurses in L & D were nice. Most of the nurses had an attitude. On the web site it says that I stay in the room that you give birth in but I was moved around 4 times. The last room they put me in was with another mom and baby ( didn't mind that) but have respect and clean up if leak blood on the toilet or floor. Food was dry.
PLACE RELEASED MY HUSBAND WHO SUFFERS FROM AZHIEMERS, PARKINSON'S, DEMENIA AND DIABETES IN A PAPER SUIT WITHOUT CONTACT ME HIS WIFE AND CAREGIVER! I FINALLY GOT A CALL AT 1:10 ASKING IF I WAS PICKING HIM UP AS HE WAS WAITING OUTSIDE FOR OVER AN HOUR BEFORE THEY HAD HIM SIT IN WAITING ROOM! HIS PAPERS STATE HE WAS RELEASED AT 10:06. THE NAME DOES NOT EVEN KNOW HIS PHONE # or ADDRESS!! THIS COULD HAVE BECOME A MAJOR TRAGEDY IF HE WAS A WANDERING ALZHEIMER'S PATIENT!! TRYING TO TALK TO SOMEONE IN CHARGE AND GETTING THE RUN AROUND, CALL YOU BACK CRAPOLA!
No bed side manor. My boyfriend went and was admitted for 3 days and was given multiple medications. 2 weeks later he had to go back. They did not ask of any medications he was on until after everything was over and he was being discharged. Left him sitting in a bed for 6 hours. I would not recommend coming here if you do not have to
My wife and I recently had our third child at PBMC, and our experience was stellar. The Maternity Staff (Lisa, Christine, Caroline, too many to name), were above and beyond what we could have hoped for. My wife's stay was so comfortable and pleasant, she didn't want to go home at the end.
My wife's OB/GYN recently teamed up with Northwell to offer delivery services. He had been at Stony Brook when we had our first child (#2 was born out of state), but recently made the switch to the Northwell family.
I grew up on the east end and had known the hospital to be less than a desirable place to visit. I'm glad to say, that is most definitely itey not the case today.
The staff, from Reception to Physician, are all outstanding. They truly do make a great team and provide an amazing experience.
If you're thinking that you want to go to Stony Brook, reconsider PBMC and give this team your business. (Bonus: not being a university hospital means not having studenta doing the work).
I would love to give higher than that because The woman that greeted us in the Lobby this morning was awesome as were the volunteers and all of the Nurses and staff in Amb surf and PACU. Where were they fell short was in the Grossman surgical unit at least so tar. I was told that this unit thee patients get one on one care and the staff is "very smart and attentive". Well day one of total Hip replacement I am not super impressed and a little nervous that my loved one is being taken care of as well as they should. 1st off the nurse has already made them wait 30 min then almost 1 hour past time for pain meds, the aid that came in to help them up to the bathroom has dtoped a bed pad on the floor then picked it up and was about to place it on the bed (which would lay against the fresh surgical site), then when I asked her nicely to please not use that one she shot her co-worker a look as if to say OMG this woman is a pain in the ass. gave him back the TV remote that hit the floor with out at least wiping it down with an antibacterial clothe and left the room after reconnecting anit-embolis pumps, but never bothered to turn them on. So far it seems they do not do any pt checks unless the patient asks for something, which again make me nervous with a Post Op patient! I have worked in healthcare for 20 years and I know what goes on during the night shifts, the fact that all these things were happening on the evening shift leaves me nervous. The only other complaint that I have about the hospital so far is, if they are going to have people arrive at 5:30am for surgery then they should be ready to receive patients at least 10 min prior not 15 minuets past the time they arrive. At the very least someone should be there to reg a patient or at least great patients 5-10 min before arrival. Other than that Dr Kraus was wonderful!, Mary D our nurse in amb surf was very professional understanding and attentive. We shall see how things go tonight! I pray better than earlier One more note:Shift ended at 7pm, nurse never asked nor did she have the PCT come in to find out if there was any urine output! This is seriously shocking to me considering again post operative patient, underwent anesthesia, on IV Fluid. Really? Where I come from generally that is info that is not only monitored very closely on a PO patient and required when giving report to the following nurse responsible for the patients care. The CEO of this place better start paying close attention to these reviews and begin addressing a lot of the issue I see on here unless they really do not care how much they pay out in malpractice suites!
Had a great experience there with my aunt yesterday. After a compound ankle break, she was VERY WELL taken care of. The nurses were really amazing, and cute lol. The doctor was lighthearted, yet caring and informative. I have no clue as to why people have rated so low.
I wanted to commend a few employees for their excellant care and attention to the patients care. Myra, Al Kelly in rehab are wonderful. In pt and op there was Denise, Andrew, Vivian and Melissa. If I have left anyone out I do apologize. They should be reconized for their service and care above and beyond
This morning I woke up in the middle of a Crohn's/Colitis attack and I was having bowel spams which really hurt so I had to go the hospital. They know me, they know what I have, I've been there so many times and yet the staff treats me like a bum off the street. After laying there in agony not seeing a soul for 4 hours the ER doctor finally came in and yelled at me to stop moaning. Then he said my problem was that I've been smoking too much pot. Total nonsense. Prescription medication helps a little but there are so many side effects it scares me to take them and then they won't work but my Dr. says take them so I do. Diets won't work, exercise is impossible, well I can walk about a mile. So the one thing that gives me an appetite so that I can bring myself to eat is a little toke or I can't eat, I can't keep any of my food down it all, I get tired of throwing up after every meal. I'm not Snoop Dog for Gods sake. The amount of pot I smoke before a meal is extremely miniscule. Not to mention that it has also been recommend by a couple of my own Dr.s. I am not a recreational user. Insurance won't pay for my Crohn's meds since it went up to $1000.00 a month. I've been going to your Hospital for 25 years, Dr.s know why I'm there and they treat me like a criminal crack person. My primary care doctor and my GI are never there, I can't schedule a Crohns attack. You are the only medical facility in town. We pay $400 a month for insurance, our deductable was $21,000.00, we send $50.00 a month to the hospital, we just don't have anymore money to send you, we have to eat and wear clothes. I can't go to Greenport, they kicked me out of ER insisting that I only wanted drugs. There are 2 hospitals over an hour away, Peconic Bay Medical is 15 mins away. Now that you can't or won't help me you have given up on me. Over the years I have been treated very badly by your hospital. Good visits too, but most of the time bad either the dr.s & the nurses don't pay attention or if they do they whatever they want instead of what I really need. I understand totally to follow your nurses and dr.s directions and I do faithfully. Why are some of them so rude and nasty. I've seen the night nurses throwing water in an old ladies face while she was crying in the hallway and they were laughing at her, I'm sure you know who I'm talking about she was left there for a long time until you could find somewhere for her to go. I've seen nurses scream in patients faces and make their patients cry. I've had nurses lie to my face. I've seen doctors who immediately dismiss anything I have to say, sometimes before I've even started speaking. I lay in ER for hours with absolutely no attention or being told to shut up. I've seen a lot of good things and a few bad things in your hospital We've been there often enough. I was even attacked by another patient while I was in bed. Is this acceptable to treat your patients this way? I bet that's a problem you and your family and friends would never have to worry about, but What do I do? You are still the closest hospital, I don't always get rotten care but it happens enough that I'm afraid to go there, and yet where else can I go? I would really like a reply to my question. And by the way I did not even have anything to smoke this morning. I did all my smoking the day before when I couldn't stand the pain any longer. Barbara Schneider
Not really sure yet on rating, so i just gave 3 stars so i could comment, My Brother called me yesterday telling me he had red swollen legs for over a week, so i pleaded with him to get to the nearest hospital, so he gave up on the argument with me and went directly to Peconic Bay where is was admitted just like i knew he would be, i don't drive, but I'm calling him every few hours to check on him, and I'm praying he gets the best of care, and when i better know of the care he gets i can better give a review, I'm praying as hard as i can, or i should say more then i usually pray, I Love my Brother, and my life would be lost without him
I never comment on these but I was so disappointed in the way I was treated and also witnessed a older gentleman who was treated terrible. It was around 12:30pm on 6/26 and first I was just processed and pushed through with no sign of compassion. I realize they do this every day and are over worked. I will say the x ray tech and nurses had a more pleasant personality. The young lady who was admitting with the role around cart was so rude to the gentleman who was very uncomfortable and needed a bathroom. He asked the young lady excuse mam, can you please call for someone to help me to the bathroom? The young lady looked at him as if he was disturbing her and said, I will see if someone will help . It was is a condescending tone. At least 10 minutes of this man moaning in discomfort till my boyfriend offered and wheeled him to a bathroom and helped him. That s awful. Remember these are humans. The unimaginable cost we get charged and we should get at least compassion. On my part the ER doctor was awful and I also felt as if I was annoying him. He sent me to X-ray. (Which I tried to say was not needed.. I didn t bang it , I twisted it. ) I tried to tell him where I hurt and he just looked and said, yeah you twisted your knee it will hurt ! Then I needed a note, he said, all I can do is give you two days . Well heck I didn t ask for him to lie or give me anything other than something to bring back to work. Not sure what his Issue was but we aren t there by choice and we are billed handsomely... The least we could have is common curtesy. Saddened by our society today.
My girlfriend, unfortunately, lives nearby and has no choice but to go there (reasons)...her mom and step are always with her...I have experience, and work, in a hospital setting, where we care for patients, in ALL walks of life, so, what my girlfriend tells me is by far unacceptable...she hasn't had anyone check up on her for hours...HOURS!...so my opinion, I, coming from someone who works at a well respected, and FORBES and FORTUNE worthy hospital setting, that we, WE, take care of every, no, ALL patients, no matter WHAT the circumstances...this peCRAPic hospital is NOT worth the time, nor LIFE..
I found a way to eliminate Kim Jung Un, send him for treatment at this hospital, physicians don't care , my girl friends dad admitted for Kidney failure 2/2 to stone , er doctor told us urologist will see him , it has been 42 hours no urologist yet, kidney function worsening , stone is still stuck , urologist still not there , now being transferred to another hospital , hospital failed to provide the services which they claim to have . I wish I could write negative reviews
Admitted to ER rather quickly to then spent 50 minutes waiting for a doctor. Go elsewhere if you have a choice. There is a CityMD across the street. I bet they can do it quicker.
The worse hospital I ever been to. Went to the emergency room with my mom and they only have 3 nurse practitioners and no doctors at that time, dying of pain and not caring at all. And today I came back to the lab and didn't know where to go and the security guy was very rude.
A physician working in the hospital referred me to use their "clinic" located in the ER for suture removal. Went and had the procedure performed. One month later I received a bill of $2500.00 and informed by numerous women in the billing department that there is no "clinic" located in the hospital. My insurance rejected the bill because the hospital billed it as a ER charge. I don't appreciate being lied to and duped!!! Also, horrible customer service from the billing department. I was making regualr payments that I could afford, however, the billing department is looking to have me pay $100 per month. Plus, the debt will be reported to the Experian, Equifax, and Transunion so your credit number goes down tremendously when I spoke with these agencies! This place is horrible! They lie, lie, lie just to get your money. Don't become and get sick and avoid this hospital at all costs! REMEMBER: NO CLINIC LOCATED AT THIS HOSPITAL!!! Wish I went to City MD across the street.
Went in for chest pain and was taken care with great care. The staff was friendly and very professional. Thanks for making my stay as comfortable as possible
AWFUL - avoid at all costs - run away! My father was brought here after a cycling accident, broken ribs, extensive open and bleeding wounds, concussion. Staff denied pain medication except Tylenol and never, over the course of three days, changed his wound dressings or checked his wounds. He was discharged with an infection and cellulitis AND with medications that directly contraindicated each other. He left Peconic and went to Mather, where he received excellent care.
HORRIBLE !!!! do not recommend staff is disgusting very rude , watch my father cry in pain with his four fingers broken and bleeding he got there 8am at around 6 pm they told him they coildnt do anything for. him he would have to go to stony brook, never even gave him pain medicine , the worst hospital Ever been to un professional staff and nurses , please go somewhere else if its an emergency ! they let you sit around all day
Dangerously incompetent, unresponsive, uneducated ER staffers.@ ER from 6pm Aug 10th- approx 5 am Aug 11th. Staffers repeatedly ignored requests to evaluate and treat concussion, seizures, violent, repeated vomiting. Threw out an accompanying friend who was witnessing. Tried to block my local doctor, who witnessed a "Dr." Lorenz refuse to consult with my infectious disease doctor when I had him on the phone. My doctor also witnessed staffers repeatedly ignoring refusing to evaluate or treat concussion, seizures, repeatedly violent vomiting, possible fracture of right wrist and ribs. Staff and security stole my phone and refused to return it, refusing and delaying discharge while attempting to erase audio and video evidence of negligence and malpractice. STAY CLEAR OF HERE IF YOU SEEK COMPETENT CARE
This hospital is the worst hospital ive been in. I was in trama unit waiting for operarating room was ready i handed nurse my wallet with all my info within 20 min they had took me up to the operating room and never gave me my wallet when i woke up from procedure that they had to knock me out and go down my throat because i had something stuck and couldnt breath when i left I realized i didnt get my wallet security and police says who brings their wallet to a hospital and they told me i should have asked for my wallet as they was taken me to the operating room i couldnt breath how was i to think to ask for my wallet no one was with me so they stole my wallet
I went there for lower back pains, fever and nausea. The Doctor was VERY rude, She hardly did anything to check my condition and after waiting three hours she came back and told me I had heart burn. Idiot. Went to StonyBrook and I was diagnosed with a kidney infection. This hospital is RIDICULOUS. STAY AWAY
Excellent care from Cnas a and lpns a d nurses. Food was high quality, Pt was great a nd very aggresive. However I did not see OT necessary in my case as I am physically a ct8veve as a YMCA MEMBER 30 years. For knee .replacement therapy I would highly recommend P MC Skilled Nursing. Adrienne Weber
I can t speak for the ER experience but I can for outpatient surgery and lab services. Our daughter had her tonsils and adenoids removed here in August. The nurses were incredible, just like a year ago when she had a biopsy. Our son had a a similar procedure a couple of years ago and we also had very compassionate care. I ve had lab work there a couple of times. They are generally quick to take you in and respectful in the process.
The absolute worst experience in an Emergency Room ever! Front desk, horrible skills. Left in the room for hours with no food or water or anyone coming in to see how I was. I was in for a heart condition! The cardiologist came in 8 hours after I was admitted. 2 nurses came back to back to take my blood for the same thing.
My mom was recently taken to the Peconic Bay Medical Center by Ambulance due to a fall and bumping her head. She was seem right away and they took very good care of her. The care she got when she was admitted was very good. They found out what happened and treated her with the right medications. I am very very impressed and happy with the card she got and how they treated her situation
Kim in ICU the nurse should not be working with patients. She is not considerate at all for the families that are dealing with there loved ones in her care. She should work at a job away from people. Ty to the other nurses such as carine and Christian who have been very kind with our family. Hospital is better off without her. We need more people like the other nurses on staff that truly care about there patients.
My grandmother went in with a mild stomachache, and the doctors couldn't find out what was wrong. Instead of getting better she came out in a bodybag within 7 days. If you want to live DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!
EPIC FAIL! Brought my wife in for dizziness, lythargia and pain from past car accidents. No I.V., no pain meds to calm her, little concern. P.A. came in and asked why she was there (admitting didn't tell you?). Then, R.N. came in and asked what brought her in today (what, P.A. NOR admitting told you?). But hey, registration was RIGHT THERE for insurance info before even seeing anyone! NOTE: They made it clear they DO NOT have an MRI there. Funny how they DO have a Heliport outside though! That alone would make me think "TRAUMA HOSPITAL" yet NO MRI??? Was referred to another hospital for an MRI and to see a Neurologist! What a waste of 4 hours!
My 78 year old Mother went to the ER directly from her Primary Care Doctor's office at 4PM 7/18/16.... I was just advised by the staff, 23 hours later, that she should be admitted into a room in about an hour... a sick, 78 year old woman has had to sit on a gurney in the hallway of the ER for 24 hours before getting put into a room... How is this acceptable?
I have very mixed emotions about this hospital and my feelings are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. Doctors are wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. BUT. Two things.
The first time I came here with my son, who couldn't breath in the middle of the night due to croup (unbeknownst to me), we went to the ER and the two women at the front desk kept on a conversation about paperwork for a different patient. I waited for them to finish but felt like screaming at them because I was panicked. My son vomited all over the floor right in front of the desk and then they snapped into action. They weren't rude or anything, very helpful actually. But I just felt like when someone comes into the ER there should be immediate attention to the patient.
The second time I came was a few weeks ago. Went into an ER hospital room and waited for the doctor. The cover sheet on the bed was dirty, with dried substances on it. There were needle caps on the keyboard and sink. Discarded plastic packages on the counter with nothing in them. There was a buttered roll wrapper on the floor next to the window. There was dried up, dark-colored fluid on the floor. After I used the toilet in the adjoining bathroom, I noticed there was dried blood on the toilet. And when I opened the garbage there was an unwrapped soaked period pad sitting on top. I felt so gross being there. I hate to sound completely nuts, but I did put on latex gloves and used the sanitation wipes to clean everything. I just didn't want the next person to come in to that. I figured maybe they were too busy to clean, but I had the feeling the people were a bit careless. It's not hard to turn around and throw your trash in the garbage, especially in a hospital where sanitation is of utmost importance.
Doctors are great, and doctor care is great, but I'm not sure if I will go here or Southampton next time.
They told my cousin who couldn't breath because of water in her lungs to sit and wait for a doctor...shes a child aswell..Hello oxygen mask ASAP?? You state the obvious.Take out your phone record it and they will force you in ...Is this a "EMERGENCY" room or a walk in urgent care?? how amazing..
Worst hospital. They take 9 hours to do any simple tests and don't explain your discharge information. It is always packed with criminals and homeless people. The staff has always been rude when I've visited this hospital, definitely going to Stony Brook any time something occurs. Please be careful taking your children here as well, 8 times out of 10 they do NOT have a pediatrician on duty in the ER (sent me home and told me to call her pediatrician, come to find out my daughter had bronchiolitis and had to be transferred via ambulance to Stony Brook).
This is by far the most racist(DUMP)hospital. I wouldn't even take a dog to that place. The Doctors are awsome, but the rest of the staff are disrespectful, condescending, and racist. I really recommend that something be done because they have no clue who they were talking to.
Went to Stong Brook and told me I had a stomach flu lasted with that idea for a week until it got worse came here to PBMC and they treated me so well very attentive and sweet people and nurses unlike stony brook and they immediately found I had appendicitis. Surgeon and nurses were great food was good too. Thank So much
About 6 months ago I went to the emergency room. It was a quiet day and was seen in about 15 minutes. The nurse asked me some questions and I was given tests and diagnosed within a couple of hours. I had a stroke and was very scared, but the staff was wonderful and patience with me. I was moved to a room in a couple of hours. The nursing staff was wonderful. They answered my questions very thoroughly and we're very kind and helpful. When I was released , the doctor had forgotten a Rx and the nurse actually delivered it to my husband at the pharmacy. I remember how scary a place this used to be. My elderly mother in-law was the emergency room here and had to yell at staff to clean her up after an extremely blody nose. She had been left covered in blood and with a blood filled bucket. They have improved greatly over the past few years.
Stayed there for 3 weeks around thanksgiving 2013. It is by far the worst hospital I ve ever been in. they let trainees do the work, they can t put an IV in and they seem to only have 1 person that actually puts IV s in, very sad indeed. They like to make sure they run every imaginable test possible to you in order to bankroll their account, I m surprised no insurance companies have questions why they do the same scans & test every other day? Lastly if you need a nurse or help they are nowhere to be found and if you get a headache while there, you ll suffer immensely. The food there was uneatable, they like showing a little film on the TV about how they care about your diet & needs and if there is a situation to let them know, well I didn t eat for nearly 3 weeks, they kept bringing food I could not eat and when told about it didn t care. If you need help eating for whatever reason, forget about it, you ll just stare at the food, they won t help. I was unable to move for a while and saw food come & go and when I was able to move told them I could not eat it due to heath reasons and they basically did nothing about it. As for medications you may take on the outside, they will take days to get you some of them regardless of its purpose, even then some of them you ll never get. What they did give me for reasons of being there when asked what they do, they just told me to take it, after a while I refused to take anything until they fully explained what it was and even then 2 were found to be given to me for unknown reasons, then it was stopped. My only tip, go anyplace else buy there, a prison hospital or a POW camp gives better treatment. I d rather bleed to death then every go there again.
Some of the nurses in ICU were very kind and informative. Other then that I cannot say I was very happy with the care given to my loved one. The doctors were not through enough. If we had a choice she would be moved to stony brook hospital. but due to where she live the ambulance wouldn't bring her . the doctors are disappointing and don't seem to have enough heart, the nursing staff is kind.
I was brought in after a car accident via ambulance with dizziness from hitting my head, shoulder pain and chest pain. They left me in the room for a long while before doing anything.
...good thing it was just bruised ribs... As for the head injury from the combination of my head and the airbag striking the windshield (my shoulder strap failed), they would not have even done a CAT scan had it not been for my mom repeatedly pointing out that I'd hit my head and was complaining about being dizzy. Turns out it was just a concussion- but isn't it dangerous to skip that test on a patient who struck their head in a MVA?
I had an emergency procedure performed at Peconic Bay Medical Center a few months ago. Naturally, all emergency issues are quite stressful for the patient and their families. I cannot express accurately enough in words how wonderful the staff members at this facility are. I'd like to especially praise the nurses! I was scared and in alot of pain and my sister was very concerned about whatever was happening to me and these folks did everything in their power to communicate any new development to my sister and keep me as comfortable as possible. My procedure was done perfectly and as I was recovering I was truly surprised by the amount of people coming in to check on me.
I don't remember arriving at the hospital but I certainly remember being discharged. Up to the last moment I was in their care I was the recipient of wonderful kindness and highly impressive medical skill.
A month or so after my discharge I had to contact the PBMC's billing/ finance office regarding an insurance issue. This is usually a task I would (and do) dread because it seems a can of worms to me... but the lady who picked up the phone could not have been more helpful. I was in complete awe at her effortless explanation of what was going on and, more impressively, what her department was already doing about it!
We on the East End of the Island have a real gem in this organization. God Bless.
So Horrible - Charles mellor pa basically refused to hear any of my concerns in the Er and didn't show any signs of caring about or helping me with my problems. Not one employee who helped me was professional. Worst hospital experience ever.
Brought my son here with a fever of 102.5 that wouldn't go down one day and a fever over 103 another day, also sores on his hand eye and mouth. The sorry doctors at Peconic just gave him motrin and sent us home. The so called "doctor" diagnosed him with blepharitis the second day I brought him. Come to find out, took him to Southampton hospital the third time and the doctor there rushed him to stonybrook by ambulance bc my son had an infection and could have went blind. So glad I took him to Southampton because had I not, my son would have been blind and Peconic Bay Medical Center would have had a lawsuit on their hands. WORST HOSPITAL EVERRRRRRR !!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't refer anyone here.
I'm not the kind of person that would take time out of my day to write a negative review, but I feel like this hospital needs to be called out! I went to peconic bay medical center in so much pain, thinking, "Thank God I'm here; they will help me." I was greeted by an older woman named Clare. When I called the hospital for the names of the people that were on staff that day I Conveniently only got their first names. Clare looked like a sweet grandma so I was thinking she would be nice; boy was I wrong. She was more like the wolf dressed as the grandmother from Little Red Riding Hood. As my mom is signing me in because I'm not able to move due to the pain, Clare asks me what's wrong and I tell her I have awful, unbearable abdominal pain; she asks how long Ive had it and I say two days but now it's way worse! And her response is: "You should of come in earlier; why did I wait so long?" Then she proceeded to motion us to the waiting room area. I can't express how much pain and discomfort I was in. Also, I'm not some girl that cries easily, Ive had 2 c sections and played sports with bad sprains while growing up. It's now been 20 minutes, then 40 minutes, an hour and Im still sitting in excruciating pain. I start screaming in pain it feels like my stomach is being ripped out! Clare comes up to me and says what's wrong what side is the pain on and I say left and her response is, "Well, it's not your appendix; so there's nothing I can do." Then she proceeds to tell me that I'm being too loud and that she had cancer and never acted how I was acting. She said she was going to contact the head nurse. The head Wicked Witch of the West is more like it! I never once saw the head nurse until the very end and when I did see her, DONNA she did not care one bit about the pain I was in. I asked her how long was it was going be until I was seen and she said "Sorry, I really don't know; people have come in before you." I had been waiting in that wating room -- more like a torture chamber -- for 4 hours in the worst pain in my life! Aren't hospitals supposed to be a place of healing and helping? Don't nurses take an oath to help people? It was the worst day of my life with pain. So I left and went to Stonybrook hostpital and Thank god I did! They saw me in 20 minutes and were so helpful And caring! The peconic bay medical center is not a place to go to feel better it's a place to go and suffer! This hospital does not even deserve one star!
My daughter went to the ER with chest pains and they left her sitting in the waiting room for 4 hours!!! They finally take her in then the doctor says he has another emergency and leaves her sitting again.Stay away.... hate to say it but your better off going to Brookhaven.
I had a very positive and caring experience in the ER at PBMC. The nurses and doctors were so quick and kind and they were very busy in the ER that day. The healthcare I received was first class, and everyone was overly nice. Thank you PBMC and keep up the great work!
My wife had a life threatening pulmonary embolism and was treated at PBMC. The staff was courteous and efficient. Their actions probably saved her life. The nursing care in the ICU was excellent and friendly. I am from NYC and originally thought of transferring her but there was no need. They did a great job.
Came in at 1am to emergency room for a possible break or fracture in wrist Going on 3 hours now and no doctor or X-ray yet. I don't understand no one seems to be hustling to diagnose the patients and possibly let them go home. There is not a lot of people in here I don't understand. ALL THE STAFF MEMBERS ARE GOING IN SLO-MOTION. It's almost 4am !!!!!! HELP!!!!! I've seen much more chaos in Brooklyn ER and got out much faster than this.
The Staff in this place was awesome, I spent time in hospitals before but none was ever as wonderful as this stay was for me. Paul director of physical theraphy you rock, every one of the nurses in SP1 ROCK, I could not say enough about this place and James in dialysis thank you for being my angel. Thank you to Cristine, Lisa and Steve in Pt for all your help.
Welcome reception. Nurses were quick and concerned. Clean immaculate room. Modern up to date equipments.felt comfortable and taken care. Highly recommended.
This hospital is the dirtiest hospital that has ever existed. My father unfortunately passed away in this hell hole on July 2nd. Security was holding his belongings. Well, we went to pick up his belongings. Ed from security had my mother sit in the waiting room for over an hour. We needed his wallet with over $200 in it, his clothes and any papers. Ed comes out, hands my mother a bag, that had feces filled pants, a belt, some hospital pamphlets. No wallet. No money. Ed than advised my mother that someone came to pick up his wallet on the 13th. Umm. No one was given permission to pick this up! They don t know. They never asked my mother for identification. No I m sorry. My father died of sepsis at this facility, and they handed my mother feces filled pants? Can t wait to call Northwell on your disgusting asses. Your disgusting.
Please go to this hospital if you want the worse care ever or just want to die. Doctors that dont care or just misdiagonose everything. This hospital has the most incompetent staff avoid this place at all cost.
They work in conjunction with LIRC. They found. Edsore from LONG ISLAND CENTER FOR RECOVERY. LICR. TRIED TO HAVE MY SON COMMITED BE AUSE OF IT. THIS HOSPITAL NEEDS TO BE UPDATED. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL.
In retrospect, the place is a very good facility. There is no way to be 100% there for everybody at every minute, but as far as this sort of place goes, they do well by people. I'm unhappy with some things, but even as far as my elderly father is concerned, "they were really good there".
