Whole experience was horrible. The front desk clerk was wanting to cancel the appointment because the check-in time was over a couple of minutes. You can feel the hate they have for their patients and the arrogance as soon as you look at the place.
I looked forward to my appointment with what was supposed to be a highly regarded specialist that was going to diagnose and treat my disease and make progress. Instead I got sent home early after being poked and prodded all day by hostile physicians, told I was fine and also basically crazy, and stuck with a five figure bill. I am convinced Mayo Clinic is all marketing on their clinical side. They might have some good research only in certain departments but this is quickly dwindling as their agendas take over. Typically if you are going to the mayo clinic you have a cryptogenic disease. Most local tertiary centers have comparable diagnostic capabilities if not better (trust me, there are a LOT of better places with better specialized programs than Mayo Clinic if you do your research).
Mayo clinic is really old fashioned in a lot or most areas. They have been there forever so in certain areas they really just don t care to try novel treatments or explore newer possibilities. This place is a sick joke. It takes a lot of the money it should be paying on property and federal taxes and dumps it into nonstop marketing and mass-media publicizing and overcharging patients along with their breadwinner doctors who spam PubMed with their "groundbreaking" research.
They put highly damaging stuff in my medical records. The doctors repeatedly refer to feelings instead of facts in medical records. The mayo doctors commit fraud, do not rely on objective evidence, and really do harm their patients any way they can on paper, especially if it looks like you re faking or exaggerating.
They engage in bullying as well. You will hear them laughing outside of your appointment room before they enter at you. Can you imagine what occurs behind closed doors? What I found in the records was horrifying. What happens when your doctor calls the Mayo to discuss YOU, off any record? Let's just say you won't be able to repair the damage done.
Drive across the US to hear you're basically sick in the head and exaggerating all of your symptoms. Holy cow and this is supposed to be the best hospital in the US? To add insult to injury defamatory material is then logged into your permanent medical record used by every major hospital in the US preventing you from receiving proper future care.

They will redo everything here to fit their own needs even if they do their tests wrong. If it boils down to them putting a brand new, completely opposite opinion on paper of any previous test you have had they WILL do this and make sure it happens to ensure their outcomes and objectives are met. This place is grossly overrated.
They whine and cry when you bring them all of your records yet they admit their fax machines won't receive half the time (because of their viral marketing) due to massive numbers of patients simultaneously faxing in their medical records for evaluations to get appointments.
