Our stay in Buitenplaats Vaeshartelt was quite enjoyable for a two-night stay. We arrived on a Friday and went to explore Maastricht on Saturday. We had no problem with sleeping accommodations, for food, or hygiene within the hotel and restaurant. The staff was nice and the breakfast had a rich variety of everything. It wasn't free, of course, but that is usually the case. Dogs, excluding service dogs, are not allowed. The bar has its own secluded kitchen that serves less fancy food (for people who want to have a cozy stay). The hotel is best reached by car, although the train station is within walking distance. There is a cat roaming the premises which is a delight for me (not so much for people with strong allergies). One negative point is that the hotel rooms do not have a refrigerator (with the note that the rooms are for sleeping). If you hold a conference or retreat in the hotel, as it is advertised, the tired employee surely wants a cold water on his room waiting for him.
