I recently booked a trip to Miami to spend some time looking for our wedding venue. I decided to stay at the Palms hotel since it was the top on my list of possible options. I figured I might as well gain the full experience of what seemed to be my first choice site unseen.
While the hotel has beautiful grounds as well as excellent food it was one thing that stood out that had me immediately know we would not be holding our wedding there. That would be the Jr catering manager Monica Henning. Upon my arrival, I looked for Monica to confirm our meeting for the following day as originally it was to be on my arrival day, she was unavailable. So I proceeded with my day when my father, who drove over (he lives locally) arrived. My dad asked the valet if he could leave his car for a few hours. He explained to the valet that "his daughter was most likely marrying here in 3 months to come." The valet said no problem catering will stamp your valet. A few hours later when we returned, we had to go through 3 people since no one seems empowered to make any basic business decisions. Finally, we were told that Monica would come up to meet me. When she did, she greeted my father and I with a phony smile and continued to say that she could not stamp the valet ticket since my appointment was for the following day and had i kept my original appointment I wouldnt have this problem. My father explained that there will be no car the following day so requested she please use it for today and she continued to huff and puff and make a stink over it. She finally stamped it with an attitude as she so pleasantly reminded us that it was a favor and to make sure I have no one trying to use the valet tomorrow. We were floored!!! Here we are considering this venue for a very costly wedding...wedding, which happens to be their money maker and she cant accommodate a $28 valet stamp? Furthermore, this woman acts as if she works in Beverly Hills. There was no warmth, no friendliness, stoic and matter of fact. She alone caused me to go elsewhere as I was quite impressed with the hotel and she spoiled it terribly. Monica should consider a new career, perhaps something she enjoys.
